First Impressions (or The Perils of Watching Movies at Home) · 3:46pm Aug 12th, 2018
I got my first look yesterday at MLP: TM. There were certainly a lot of differences between it and the series, from the animation style to certain aspects of the story. I guess there's nothing wrong with that per se, but many aspects of the story left this old guy feeling uncomfortable, like I was being reminded that this film was made for a much younger audience. I guess it would be very hard to make a movie about an invasion for younger children, but I felt a bit cheated.
This probably wouldn't have been an issue if I had just finished the movie and saw how it played out, but I was tired, and the next twist seemed too predictable, so I stopped it. I do that way too much, mostly to avoid uncomfortable moments, or instances of singing. I guess that makes it even more desirable to see movies at the theatre, where you have no choice but to let it all play out. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet I guess, and someday I'll do that, hopefully. In the meantime, I will finish the movie, and let the chips fall where they may.
