Equestria is so infinitely Perfect that the only way to make the fanfic not feel like the "Silly and childish" better world fantasies of some kid is to constantly inject "Hey, this fic isn't a mindless fluff-fest, it's cool and dark like all good works of literature, I swear! Earth sucks! Earth super-sucks! You know this impossibly nice pony I just met? He was an abused kid kicked out of his home because his parents were evil!" in concentrated liquid form every few paragraphs.
Also nobody thought to say something like... Celestia wants to preserve the works of man in sanitized form, so pony foals can go through museums and see the Statue Of Liberty right next to the Eiffel Tower and the Pyramids, and you can see exhibits on Shakespeare but with the age rating reduced to 3+ and this makes the HLF slightly more wrong. Because now they're arguing that death as terrorists is better than art getting censored in the new species's quests to child-proof human culture, rather than saying death as terrorists is better than humanity's entire existence getting erased. You could still keep the "Luna is nicer and she keeps the stuff hidden and preserved somewhere secret" stuff.
