A cheerful, six-year-old filly who works in a bakery/cafe with her older sister, Heart Struck, and an intern filly named Sweet Melody who is only slightly older than Cider. Cider is in charge of all liquid beverages, mixing to the customer’s exact specifications. She uses her changeling abilities to make herself look only 2 years, at most, younger than Heart, since helping in her normal size would set off some child labor laws and get her sister and their boss in trouble.
As halflings she and her sister don’t need to steal love to live, for their pony halves allow them to feed on each other’s mutual love, an option available to no pure changeling. They still need to feed their pony halves actual food like apples and hay, but the need is drastically reduced by the ability to be fed just by each other’s presence.
Late at night, when she is so tired she can barely even walk to get to her bed, if that, she has a tendency to call Heart, who takes care of her, “mom” without realizing it. She was too young to remember their real mom when they last saw her, as such, Cider doesn’t even know what she looked like. However, as their mother was a changeling, which Cider does know, anypony in her dreams can be her mother, simply under a morph-disguise. Usually, the dream-projection of Heart identifies which pony is their mom in each dream.
The two have been hiding as normal earth ponies in Fillydelphia far longer, but with the recent invasion of Canterlot by Queen Chrysalis, Cider has developed a minor phobia of anyone finding out what they are. As such, she tends to react extremely violently, as a local policestallion found out the hard way; transforming into something big and dangerous from Sweet Melody’s biology textbook to protect Heart and herself when she believes they may have been discovered. Though Heart can snap her out of these panicking assaults with a nuzzle and eight little words: “It’s okay baby sister, you can stop now,” usually before any actual damage is done. Cider’s fear primarily stems from a temporary new policy of zero tolerance for changelings, enacted in response to the invasion. Despite halflings being unknown as a potential breeding outcome, or perhaps due to it being unknown, the law is written such that it does in fact apply to them as well, despite neither even knowing about the invasion until the newspaper came.
It's wise for me to note that, thanks to progress in the RP, there isn't as much fear to being a changeling now. She and her sister are actually capable of being themselves now in our canon.
