Anypony else think the new image system in comments is a little much?

I've looked and there's no option to disable the little linkboxes for images that have been added to the comments system. It really breaks the expanded emoticons Greasemonkey script. But above all else my problem is with how half of the images that showed before DON'T WORK in the linkboxes. It's a petty concern, I know, and it reeks of TheyChangedItNowItSucks, but I just don't particularly enjoy it compared to the old way.

We used to have a size limit on what should be [img*][*/img]tagged that nopony bothered to stay within, why not make the site linkbox the images that are larger than that while letting acceptably sized pics through as before?
