Since the newest game is supposedly taking the players back to Kanto, that only the first 151 are going to be in the game. Not sure where the rumor started but I’ve seen more than a few chat rooms and message boards blow up because of it.

I just offer the sensible reason why.

The first 151 would be the only ones available... until you beat the game. Then you can get the other 656. Genwunners just don't want to admit that this isn't a reboot, but a set of spin-off games.

I stand corrected. I just wish that others were as sensible. They're so obsessed with thinking Gen 8 is coming before the next handheld does that they are clawing to grasp just about any excuse they can get. They even clamored to the cut Gen one designs, and are saying: "See!? New Pokémon will be in these games! Gen 8 on Switch confirmed!" They just don't want to accept that the Gen 8 games won't be coming out until after the next handheld.
