I remember that game. We had to play it for history class, since crossing the Oregon Trail was a major part of Utah's history with the pioneers.
4856676 its fun to name everyone after characters and see what happens
4856679 Yeah, and then see them die because of dysentary. I MIGHT get a little to attached to fictional characters in games. It's why I don't do Nuzlockes.
4856682 i find it incredibly hilarious.
4856697 I find it a little saddening. These characters that you've connected to for the better part of the game is no longer available for use. It's like losing a friend for me.
4856698 i'd probably get sad if it was my starter or one of my favorite pokemon though.
4856702 Yeah, that's why I mentioned Nuzlockes earlier. They are a self imposed challenge where if a Pokemon faints, you can't use it anymore, and sometimes even have to release it. For me it would be the Starters (naturally), and the ones I grow closer to (Walrein in XD, Quagsire in Colosseum, Lapras and Lucario in X/Y, Aggron in Emerald, and Aggron, Gardevoir, Gallade, and Metagross in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire).
4856709 nuzlockes are stupid in my opinion.
4856719 Same. I mean, come on. THEY GIVE YOU REVIVES FOR A REASON! And then there's the problem with certain moves being detrimental to use as well (Memento, Self Destruct, and Healing Wish for example, and Metronome being able to summon those moves doesn't help matters).
4856738 they are fun to watch people do though.
4856740 Yeah, those and the Egglockes and Wonderlockes.
4856743 what are those?
4856745 They're something that started becoming common in Gen 6. You must catch five pokemon, then trade your starter and the other five for eggs (Egglocke) or Wondertrade (a new feature in X and Y where you connect with a random person for a predetermined trade, so you have no idea what you're gonna get) them for six new Pokemon, and then only use them in game. You can also comnbine them with Nuzlocke variants (example, if a pokemon faints you can't use it again, but will have to Wondertrade or hatch a new egg to get a replacement).
4856755 that sounds interesting
4856758 However, I think Egglockes (which are technically possible as early as Gold and Silver with a little help from a link cable and extra cartridges/friends) would be easier prior to Gen 4 when eggs hatched at level 5 instead of level 1.
4856760 well its a challange for a reason, right?
4856763 Yeah, but it's surprising how much harder it is to use a level 5 than a level 1. Most level ones have very few moves, and more often than not, it's basically useless moves like Splash, Growl, Leer, etc. Unless they know Egg Moves, you have a major chance of being done before you can even start.
4856766 well, i dont play pokemon that much so i wouldnt know
4856767 Well, most early moves only affect the stats of the opponents (Growl/Charm affect Attack, Leer/Tail Whip affect Defense, Sand Attack affects Accuracy, and so on), and I mentioned Splash, which LITERALLLY does nothing. Egg Moves, as I mentioned before are special moves that can be passed down through breeding from the father, which is why they're a saving grace. You can go from, "oh look a Charmander with Scratch to a Charmander with Scratch, Outrage, Flare Blitz, and Metal Claw.
4856768 that is op
4856791 Yep! And that is why they made certain Pokemon have a 7 to 1 gender ratio in favor of the males and why every Legend/Mythical (except Manaphy and Phione) is unable to breed, so that it would be harder to get broken Pokemon.
4856806 thats cool
