I have a problem... · 7:48am Apr 24th, 2018
So, you probably have read about my withdraw of "the new element, new adventure, new Equestria" and might have read the story.
Here's the deal, first of all, I'm a non-native English speaker so my English vocabulary and grammar can be really rusty. And that also lead to me feel unconfident and keeping myself from making further progress.
Secondly, I have a problem with writing description basically, for example:
As the sun slowly goes past the horizon, the sky slowly change color from autumn leave orange to dark sapphire blue. The wind slowed down as the light slowly faded away. The grass around me slowly goes back to their still position and the sound of the leave rustling died down, replaced by sound of cricket and nocturnal creature roaming quietly to survive.
Just looking at that passage make me cringe at myself, and that’s one of my best effort at describing scenery of the story. So I either have to try harder and learn along with it (Which probably will make the story become "try not to cringe challenge"), make it shorter (at a cost of lesser characterisation and character attachment) or add a lot more dialogue (Which make it feel like transcripts if you ask me). Either of them probably would make me facepalmed at myself more or less often during the rest of the writing.
And also, I’ve already imagine the whole scenario and storyline up to how it all going to end and it’s going to be really long which is going to make future me scream at how many continuities there are and how long it is.
My expectation is that there’re going to be 2500 words for each chapter (which I consider short when compare to the story I've read through out the time I'm reading here). And usually an Act consist of 13 chapter with prologue and epilogue (prologue and epilogue should be around 1000 words each). I also plan to have around 8 acts for each season. Finally, there’re season of the story, which would make it around 1.3 million words long.
And that is just really rough estimate since my other calculation in much more detail (there’s a lot of detail I can’t quite insert here) make it goes up to 2.5 million words long.
Which if you just look at the number and every problem I have before... you probably understand why it could feel demotivated.
Don’t worry! I’m still fixing and writing the story currently and I’m not planning on stopping any time soon so there’re still hope!
And if I’m going to scrap the story, I’ll probably post my rough story detail on one of my blog so anyone who’s read the story and interested can use it and create their own version or inspired by the plotline. (Which probably be no one since It’s still pretty vague without context but that’s the beauty of book right? Let the imagination do the work for you!)
Finally, If I’m going to post the story I would be posting whole first season by the end of this year, so keep an eye out. There might even be a short story every once in a while.
And I hope you all enjoy time reading in FimFiction.
