Season 7 Finale, Season 8 Opener · 1:22am Apr 4th, 2018
I avoided spoilers last season, so I found myself pleasantly surprised by the Season 7 finale. I wasn't expecting all of those historical figures mentioned throughout the season to be part of some proto-Elements of Harmony, and be in part responsible for the creation of said Elements.
Twilight Sparkle doing the wrong thing? It makes sense, because it was a plan created by her idol! Starlight Glimmer calling her out on it? It made perfect sense.
And poor Stygian. Even the Pillars had their own Spike.
It was also nice to see stallions and mares as part of the Pillars. Far too many of the male characters in the series are or were villains. That's not a positive message.
Now, as for the Season 8 opener?
Well....
You know how on The Simpsons, almost every episode involves one or members of the family taking part in some new occupation or avocation? They do it for the episode, and it's basically never mentioned again? Well, that's what the School of Friendship seemed like to me.
Now, imagine there were a My Little Pony spinoff with the cast of kids from the episodes, new characters as teachers, and members of the cast of MLP:FIM making cameos to teach friendship lessons. That sounds like a great cartoon for kids! And it makes a lot more sense than having the Mane Six as teachers.
Hey, it's about time those girls got a little beefcake in their lives.

Yeah, a spinoff of FiM where all the characters we know and love are students or teachers at a high school would be awesome, why haven't they thought of that sooner?
But seriously, it really will be interesting to see what else they do with this school of friendship and the new cast of students.

I don't want something like Equestria Girls.
The show I'm describing has been done successfully before, in Tiny Toon Adventures. New characters similar to the original toons, with cameos from them.
4833092 Yeah, that's a good description. Honestly Season 8 seems like a soft-launch of Tiny Tunes, with the Mane 6 as teachers and the new class as students. Too bad Diamond Tiara couldn't enroll as the Monty Max!
