Proofreading and other stuff about the nearly done Chapter 13, THE REPOSTONING!!! · 5:27pm Oct 25th, 2012
Edit: I am not sure if the first blog post was sent to the correct people, so i am reposting it so that those who are watching for updates from DDF can receive it FOR SURE.
Thise does mean that the deadline for obtaining pre-readers has extended, so feel free to volunteer yadda yadda
FINALLY!!! Got chapter 13 all written up, all it needs is a few editing passes. Which is the purpose of this blog post. I didn't want to assume that my previous pre-readers would always be available so i am once again making a 'call to arms' post. There of course will be a slight catch with wanting to be a pre-reader, as i am still trying to create a simple and easy way for us to communicate effectively.
All in all i just want those who are willing. If you think all you are good at is grammar, go on i could always use that. What's that you say? You can only offer insight into the overall plot and the stories progression and pacing? Fine then, hope aboard. SO long as you believe you can offer good criticism or help, BY ALL MEANS VOLUNTEER!
Now as for a plan of action, such as a deadline, i do have one this time as stated below for those who wish to volunteer. Otherwise, rejoice readers for we are on the home stretch of another chapter launching, just about another 4-7 days. YIPPEE!
OH YEAH, before i do that. I got a handful of messages from people across multiple sites that i should... of all things.... make a facebook page for DDF. Do you guys really think that would be worth it? I mean i don't know honestly, is there enough of a community that i should try to get something like that off the ground? Would you all want to talk about my fanfic in a community setting? I mean honestly i have no clue. If you have any ideas go ahead and shoot, if it helps you guys enjoy my story i am all for it.
-For Pre-reader's
You are better off private messaging me to volunteer instead of leaving a comment here.
Document in question is 9,600 words or so, i want to try and launch within the next week. The earlier the better, but don't sacrifice or push yourself for me.
You have 24 hours from the time of this blog post to volunteer, i may say yes even past that deadline but you'll have to be close to its conclusion.
I might end up with multiple pre-readers (more than likely i shall). In such case i will still laucnh ont ime after 2-3 of you have turned in any finished edits, any others i will get to but once the deadline passes the first priority is launching the chapter. Any late edits turned in will be added over time post launch day
You will use a cloud based document editing software that runs in a browser (no download or install needed). If you need help understanding it simply ask, or if you have a preference for another type of editing type just let me know. I can be flexible.
The 'software' in question is piratepad.net, feel free to check it out. And as i said before, i am flexible and will try to give you whatever you are most comfortable with using.
I would ask that all pre-readers give me a daily progress report as shown below. If you cannot edit on any given day that is no biggie, if i receive no progress report that day then i shall assume you had more important matters to attend to.
-daily report format

Ended scene: 3
Major Concerns/Criticisms: Rarity seems far too frilly, if i remember right she wasn't such a crybaby. Perhaps she can still be scared by what she has seen but not so much that she was driven to frantic and erratic spouts of hyper-tears.
And that's that, hope you will consider pre-reading, and as always we can discuss stuff in PM if you have any problems and whatnot.
Yours,
Lawrence Gander.
Would consider it if I wasn't in the middle of re-reading your fic to make sure I could remember most of it before reading the newest chapter.
Oh, and the lack of responses might be because of your low amount of watchers and/or low amount of favorites on the story. I think there are a few groups out there for prereaders and stuff, try finding one of those, I'm sure there are a few out there somewhere that got the time to do it.
Good luck with finding people for the proofreading :)
