A Question From Me To You On A Rather Strange Habit - Chewing Or Using Gum - Is This You? · 7:54pm Mar 22nd, 2018
If you're English, then you refer to this product as 'chewee', but if you're American, then you likely know it as 'gum'.
I have one thing to ask all of you out there - do you find the habit of chewing it rather addictive?
Why do I ask? Simple - ever since I was a pre-teen, I have always mostly had a pack or two on me and I'd chew it like crazy almost every day. Just recently, I've been feeling stressed with college work, so I would typically go down to one of the shops on the shopping centre next door to the campus (it's a great perk!) and I'd buy a pack. They normally come in packs of five or seven, but I choose the five pack.
In each pack you buy, each small chewee packet inside has five sticks. Within the week, that would mean that I have 25 sticks per pack I buy, so I would actually burn through them within only the first two days of the week. Before I know it, I'm onto the second pack I bought. That begs the question of 'is it possible to actually become addicted or dependant on gum/chewee?'
Does anyone else have this 'addiction', or is it just me picking up a habit I thought I'd left behind me years ago?
Literally anything can be addictive, and that includes chewing gum. Repetitive motion habits, if they bring you some kind of pleasure or relief, are very likely. It's very much like biting your nails, sucking your thumb, etc. Some people, once they start doing it, can't shake it.

Welp, I'm afraid that's me at the moment! Stupid pre-teen me just had to get me hooked! Ah well, tastes better than a cigarette at least.
