Some background music. You're going to need it: we're going to be here a while.

    Status Update, April 2024 Edition

Part of my slowness in writing M.L.G.'s latest chapter is for the usual reasons: tiredness, minor depression, having other things on the mind, that sort of thing. However, in what can only be described as "whimsy", I've recently decided to complete a list of all of the intentional shout-outs and references in the story as of the most recent chapter.

    Something To Think About

I have a message to share with prospective authors. If you go into writing a story---be it as a living, or just for fun---don't automatically assume that what you're doing is wholly original.

    Tired, Running On Empty

That pretty much summarizes my mental state of the past few days. Constantly tired (half due to not getting enough sleep and half due to my walking regimen), and I can't really think of things I want to write for the story. You know you're having trouble finding things to talk about when your brain fishes for tuna, but ends up with guppies instead.

    So INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED Right Now

I copied the latest chapter of M.L.G. to my flash drive as usual. I took it home with the intent to post it today. I double-click the file.

Bird Vs. Equine, Part Two · 7:46pm Mar 4th, 2018

This is a follow-up post to my previous one regarding Raven Vs. Twilight in ScrewAttack's Death Battle series.

Those who pay attention to the series already know that Twilight ended up losing. The floodgates opened up, and a horde of individuals rejoiced: not that the winner won, but that the loser didn't. All in all, it reeked of immaturity, childish hate, and enough toxic gas to choke an entire sub-section of the Internet. It's the sort of behavior that I spent thirteen years of my life trying to get away from.

In contrast, the bulk of the crowd that supported the loser predicted the winner's victory, congratulated the loser for putting up a good fight, and were willing to leave things well enough alone.

Sore winners on one side, graceful losers on the other.

I'm convinced now, more than ever, that becoming interested in Friendship is Magic was the right call. If hating a series or character means being a gargantuan jerk about it, something which I've tried to avoid most of my life post-high school... ...I'm sorry, I can't finish that sentence properly. The sheer repercussions to my health and life... I just can't imagine them.

Having opinions and expressing them is all well and good, but it's as Dilbert's creator Scott Adams once said: sometimes the thing about freedom of speech is that you have to know when to keep those sorts of things to yourself.

That's it for now. Ciao mein, everyone.
