Monster Hunter World Subspecies (part 3) · 9:34pm Feb 28th, 2018

Eruption Zorah Magdaros

Location: Great Ravine
Element: Fire
Ailments: Fireblight, Blastblight
Weakness: Water, Dragon
Resistance: Fire, all ailments
Description:
Though similar to the Zorah Magdaros, it's entire body has been heated and boiled to the point where it has become a danger to even itself. The magma in its body is so superheated that it can afflict Blastblight to those attempting to attack its magma cores.

Coral Jyuratodus

Location: Coral Highlands
Element: Water
Ailments: Waterblight, Bleeding
Weakness: Fire (when coral), Thunder (no coral)
Resistance: Thunder (when coral), Fire (no coral), Water (no coral)
Description:
A common, teal mutation of Jyuratodus that has migrated to the Coral Highlands to use its camouflage as effectively as possible. The sharp coral it has put on its back proves useful as a means of defense and as a way of inflicting Bleeding to hunters.

Platinum Kulu-Ya-Ku

Location: Rotten Vale, Elder's Recess
Element: None
Ailments: Fireblight, Waterblight, Thunderblight
Weakness: Poison
Resistance: Fire, Water, Thunder
Description:
A subspecies of Kulu-Ya-Ku that has mastered elemental control. Using its heightened senses and resistant feathers, it is able to find and dig out elementally unstable rocks and throw them at hunters, though it is interestingly weak to poison. Extremely dangerous.

Icy Paolumu

Location: Coral Highlands, Wildspire Waste
Element: Ice
Ailments: Iceblight, Sleep
Weakness: Fire, Thunder
Resistance: Ice, Water
Description:
A striped Paolumu subspecies with resistant enough skin to survive Wildspire Waste. Inside its inflation gland is another gland that chills the air in its neck. It can use this air to stay cool or blow it at foes to freeze them. The chilled air also has minor sleeping agents.

Look, it's some more monster subspecies from that game I've never played! Yay! I'm not too upset though, at least I still have my 3DS games.

Once again if anyone has any ideas for more subspecies, even if I've already done that particular monster, I'll be sure to put it in the next blog.

Man I need to get one of these games

You should totally get one of them. If you have a PS2, PSP, PSVita, Wii, Wii-U, 3DS, or PS4, I recommend the game to hell and back again. Quite literally hundreds of hours of fun will be had, trust me.

Until you reach G rank and face Rajang. But until then, hours of fun will be had.

Prices vary in different areas of the world, but here in Canada I can buy any one of the 3DS games for 20 dollars.

Fuck the Kulu-Ya-Ku. It and the Pukie-Pukie. Hate those little bastards.

Aww, why? They're so endearing and cute!

4807686
That's because you haven't hunted them yet.

I’ll check my local gamestop

My dude, I've hunted the Qurupeco, the Volvidion and the Yian Kut-Ku, three of the most annoying medium sized monsters ever. How bad can they really be for early game monsters?

But you're right, I haven't faced them yet, so I have no real say in the matter. But as a hunter since Tri, I've seen a lot of stuff. Nothing can surprise me now.

Awesome, the games really are worth it!

I'll admit, World is the only Monster Hunter experience I have, and it might be that I just have trouble because I prefer twin swords to literally everything else. But those things were aggravating to me.

Here's a good tip. Wanna kill something really quickly? Try using the charge blade's third phial attack with a powered up shield. Nothing will stand a goddamn chance.

To power up your shield, press the button that switches from sword to shield mode just as you're about to activate your third phial attack. Your weapon should glow red now. Now charge up the blade again until you have at least three phials again. Now mash the phial attack button repeatedly until you activate the third phial attack. Now the monster is dead. Hurray!

And if you have no idea what I'm talking about, there should be a tutorial on the charge blade somewhere in rank 1.
