Geldings

I'm thinking of writing another story about geldings. Don't worry, I do plan on finishing the first one I've got going. But, I would like some ideas and concepts from people.

For this story, I would like to explore the process and life of geldings in more detail, with less grimdark and horror. As in, it's just a natural thing in their world. Reasons for doing so would be welcomed. Perhaps even make it not permanent.

For a while I've actually had a concept in my head. We've seen Zecora make a potion to regenerate teeth, so why not testicles as well? See, what if it was normal to castrate stallions every once in a while. Like, maybe have the Apple family geld Big Mac every harvest season to keep him focused on the work, and then regenerate them after its all done. Or, if some colts are acting out too agressively, it might be necessary to put their hormones in check.

That's more of a silly idea.

Please let me know your thoughts and give me some ideas.

Well, normally i am in favor of making these thinsg permanent. making it reversible seems to take away the meaning that it normally has for a stallion.

Reasons for gelding:
-genetic defects: should be obvious

-sexual crimes: maybe even getting framed for one... and if you are unlucky.. well snipp snipp

-some strange traditions: Like some stuff as eunuchs had in china?

-preventing overpopulation: if thereare too many males.. well loop off their balls to prevent the population to explode.. is also done to normal horses..

-parents decisions: they want their colt gelded? well they probably can. The reason? WHo knows? Maybe they adopted a colt they did not like? maybe orphanages sometiems geld their colts? Damn headmistress...

Yes, actually, that is the intent of the next story. To make it permanent for some, like placing a magic symbol on them so that it can never be reversed, while other's it's just a sort of punishment or keep them in check. Though, I am looking for other ideas.

This story I want to make Geldings more of a normalization, rather than a grimdark nightmare.

mhm... well if it is reversible, it might as well be done to most colts.. until they reach a certain age. maybe it is also something that only some pony races practice.. pegasi probably would gelkd their most incapable flyers.. earthponies.. well depends on the work i suppose. Unicorns might be the upper class that usually do things however fashion pleases it... but probably rarely permanently. though when it comes to punishing others (for example for sexual crimes) they would probably tend to push it on them permanently. For those that reach a certain age, they might earn the right to carry their balls..?

I was thinking about actually having a mandatory test all colts had to take at a certain age. One that would test both mental and physical abilities. Failing the test would result in permanent castration. Though, a way to earn their balls back would be interesting, like getting stronger and smarter as a gelding and receive back your breeding rights.

For the upper crust, they can still get anything done for the right price. Just as long as they head ethical laws of gelding care and maintenance.

That actually sounds like an interesting setting. Who knows.. maybe thereason why thereare so many mares is that many just look sorta mare-ish...? And they are just gelded stallions that were gelded at an early age.

Reversible castration is pointless (libido- and erection-suppressing potions or spells make much more sense), unless healing takes a significant time (at least several years). Would you be interested in a story about getting a paper cut? About a society where giving paper cuts is traditional? Probably only if it's done for comedic effect.

What about reasons, the best is obviously music. But if you decide not to honor the fine arts...

• Punishment.
• Eugenics. Maybe there is a process of choosing the best colts (close to entering adulthood) in every area and castrating the rest, so maybe 90% of colts are gelded. Then it's customary that both stallions and geldings marry, but geldings' wives seek stallions to have foals, though it's a gelding's responsibility to raise his wife's children. Fuck, now I feel like writing that myself.
• Gelding all professional soldiers/guards to make sure they are focused on their duty and loyal to the state/ruler and nothing else.
• Feminism gone wild. What if there is widely available futa spell and mares don't even need stallions to reproduce, so they geld them all?
• The vault computer demands gelding under threat of killing the entire population, but is actually programmed, in the event of refusal, to congratulate them on being good ponies. New Vegas best 3D Fallout.
• Testicular cancer. Wait, that thing is real and can affect humans. Shit...

There re already stories about gelded professional soldiers, try Aegis Shield, but the problem with that is, testosterone is a natural performance enhancing hormone, so it would be preferable and smarter to not castrate the ones defending you, as you want them at their strongest.

And, yes, the idea of eugenics was definitely at the top of my list for reasons. Why not try writing something like that yourself? There's not enough gelding stories on this site.

As for a Fallout Equestria scenario, I don't know if be very good at post-apocalyptic stories.

Just don't like futa myself, it really feels like a lazy excuse for smut. Though feminism gone wild is pretty much whats happening in the story I've already written.

Punishment is a good idea.

Though, the idea of a reversal taking a long time does give me an interesting idea. Like, what if testicles never stopped growing, so it was prudent to hack them back periodically. Though, that sounds more like a one silly one shot to me.
