    The State of Affairs

Yikes. It's been a while, hasn't it? I hate these blogs, but I kinda feel guilty when I don't say anything, so please bear with me.

Rant time! Show vs. Tell: Why You Know People who are Doing it Terribly Wrong

It’s always depressing to see people give bad advice. It’s even more depressing to see people eat that bad advice up and say things like, 'This is really good and totally right!' Now, I don’t like starting arguments on the Internet, so I normally just shake my head and look the other way. But this is something I have seen more than a couple of times from people who have a greater audience than

    New Chapter and Related Apologies

New chapter is up! Twilight and Celestia are getting closer to the dragon kingdom now, but they still have a little something to go through before they get there. That little something may or may not include living, giant stone statues.

    Honest Words

She holds my hand with all the strength she has left, a bony grasp that shakes like a frightened child. I can hear her breathing, wet and rasping as if her lungs are filled with fluid—until I realise that they probably are. The oxygen machine next to me hisses, and I can hear shrill beeps from the other side of the bed. One and a half every second, a laughable imitation of a heartbeat. To me it

Proper post for the new (and proper) story. And a rant. · 1:56pm Oct 22nd, 2012

I told you I would make a proper post, didn't I? And so here I am, keeping my promise, because a Mystic always fulfils their promises.

Well that reference didn't work out so well. =/

Before I talk about the new story(ies), I want to tell you guys about something that happened to me a month or so ago right here on this site. It was something that I found unbelievably immature and still kind of hilarious. Yes, that's right--potential drama! :D Because the Internet definitely needs more drama, haha. Still, more than enough time has passed since it happened, and you certainly won't be getting any names of the stories, etc, so it should be all good. Honestly, it's more me commenting on something that I honestly just didn't understand rather than a complaint against one individual, so lower those pitchforks and torches, please! You'll hurt someone.

Anyway, so it's common knowledge that most (though definitely not all) of the stuff in the featured box is generally pretty ordinary. It is common knowledge, yeah? Well, I am going to continue under the assumption that you agree with me, because frankly it's a lot easier that way. I tend to stick away from the featured box for that reason, but sometimes when I am procrastinating really badly, or a particular description captures my fancy, I may give something a read. More often than not, though, I am not particularly thrilled by what I do read, but that is neither here nor there.

Sometimes, however, I will read something pretty dodgy (or just downright terrible), and in those circumstances, (depending very much on my mood), I may or may not leave some constructive criticism. Now, I am very cautious about being mean, so I often send harsher comments off to a friend to check over before I post them to make sure they aren't personal. For the fic relevant to this story, I did just that. I am not going to lie, the story was bad and I was honest about that, but I certainly made sure to keep it constructive at all times.

So my friend said it was all good, and I posted the comment. Then about fifteen minutes later I came back. In that time, every single one of my stories had gotten a +1 dislike, even those that had none before. I sat down, confused as all hell because my total view count hadn't increased by anything! But then I realised what had happened; someone had disagreed with my comment so much that they felt the need to go to my profile and dislike every single one of my stories.

I'm... I...

...

Okay then!

I have to say, our mystery disliker really showed me, huh? I mean, I don't see how honestly considering quitting ponyfic in response to the terrible blow I had suffered at their hands wasn't a perfectly rational reaction. Oh the trauma!

But seriously, after I had finished laughing my arse off, I stopped and started thinking. Why? Why on earth would someone do that? Hahaha. I mean really. It's so petty it makes the bitchiness that comes from those stereotypical teenage girls look like calm and rational disagreement. Some people...

(I'll take this moment to say that it wasn't the author of the story who did this. At this time he had been offline for almost 20 hours! So whoever did it was a fan that apparently enjoyed the story THAT much! I gotta hand it to the author, that is some serious love right there!)

The moral of this story is pretty clear, I hope, but I already know you guys are pretty awesome, so I don't really have to tell you. Let's just try and promote flicking the maturity dial on the lowest achievement band up a notch, shall we? Sounds good to me.

Anyway, the collection of short 'epics' has been submitted and is currently awaiting approval. As for how long that will take, I have no idea. It's in the hands of the FIMFic gods now, so I am going to hope that the smoking engines and rusted cogs of the ponyfic machine take less than a day to spit it out unlike Evicted, hahaha. There are two chapters(stories) that will go up on posting, each about 5k words long, with some really cool stuff planned in the future. I hope you guys like it, and please be sure to thumbs it up/fave! That's the only way to get stuff featured, and wouldn't it be nice to see some epic adventure in the featured bar?

Thanks so much, guys, and I really hope you enjoy.

Now I am going to tear my face off before I crash into bed. Public law will be the death of me, I swear to god.

Stay awesome!

That's politics. It connects art with science, therefore it has corners which are seemingly.. unordinary. Like this.

Stories! Stories! Nothing to say more, than.. more stories! :pinkiehappy:

Hahahaha, that is both awesome and sad. I've heard of author's who get anti-fans that go around giving Dislikes to all their works. It's just so sad an immature.

And yeah, the feature box can have a lot of boring, or poorly written, stuff in it. Yet, it still is the best way to get exposure outside of being featured on EqD. I'm still unsure if that is good or bad to be honest. :unsuresweetie:

I will agree with some reservations... I have found some awesome stories thanks to the featured box, but for the most part it's junk.

We must find he who us responsible for this blasphemy and make sure that it doesn't happen again. I'll get the snow-cone machine...
