Swirling Blade

I used to edit a fic called Wandering Moon in 2014. Then in 2016, I decided to actually give writing my own fic a chance.

May or May Not Write More Often

So, I have to admit that my motivation for uni has been waning recently, and so I may or may not write more often for The Bright Equestrian Moon while I'm slacking off. At least it's something productive, rather than playing web games or reading other fics.

    Just Wrote a Bunch

Hi there, everyone. I know it's been ages again, but I've been really busy with university. Anyway, I recently looked through a bunch of my favourites and saw quite a few stories that haven't been updated for ages, and might not ever be updated. That feeling sucked, although I don't blame the authors for being busy with whatever life throws at them. However, it made me think of anybody who might

    Next Chapter Will be Soonish

I have been working on the next chapter for The Bright Equestrian Moon, but progress has been slow due to starting to work towards a Cert IV at a university. I've been both busy and drained from university, but have been working on the next chapter in some of my spare time. Maybe it'll be done by middle or end of this week.

It's Been Ages and I've had a Realisation (Update and Rambling)

Hi there, I know that it's been ages since the last chapter of The Bright Equestrian Moon. Once again, I'm sorry that I haven't been consistent in updates and that I often go on hiatus without warning. It must be really frustrating as a reader who has kept up with the story so far. I've realised that my writing tends to come in waves as I get inspired by something to continue, then I

It's Been Ages and I've had a Realisation (Update and Rambling) · 1:51am Jan 14th, 2018

Hi there, I know that it's been ages since the last chapter of The Bright Equestrian Moon. Once again, I'm sorry that I haven't been consistent in updates and that I often go on hiatus without warning. It must be really frustrating as a reader who has kept up with the story so far. I've realised that my writing tends to come in waves as I get inspired by something to continue, then I slowly stop again. Sometimes it's that I get really caught up in new games that are released (or old ones that I revisit (holy shit, I love Skyrim VR)), sometimes it's that I just get writer's block, and sometimes after reading other fics I feel disappointed with my own writing and lose motivation.

I've also come to another realisation after reading some more fics (that I consider leagues better than my own) on this site, and it's that I really enjoy action in stories. Considering that I like action, and reading it really excites me, I feel that writing action will also excite me (and hopefully motivate me to write more). So, I don't think I'm going to start a new fic, but rather The Bright Equestrian Moon might gradually change direction. It won't be straight away, and the focus will still be on the romance between Travis and Luna, but it'll slowly curve more towards action and perhaps adventure. By that point it'll probably have to lose the slice of life tag, but I'm okay with that. Along with that change, I think I've also finally made the decision to dive past teen and into mature territory, both in terms of violence for the action whenever it arrives, and the more intimate moments between Travis and Luna whenever they come.

I will apologise just this once though to any readers who might be put off by that change who came here for a romantic slice of life story. I understand as a reader of other fics how it feels when a fic I enjoy goes in a direction that I didn't read the fic for in the first place. Sorry to any readers who may feel betrayed by the change of direction/genre (even if it is gradual). I'll try my best to avoid making Travis a Gary Stu, but I can't promise anything (since that'll be difficult for me when getting excited by writing action). I know how much Gary Stus and Mary Sues can ruin a story and piss people off, but I've noticed that I sometimes don't mind them in other fics if they aren't too in your face. Also, a lot of main characters in shounen anime and manga are pretty much like that anyway, and people don't mind them (it only annoys them when it's a fan character and not canon). Welp, that was a bit of a rambling rant... Hopefully that didn't offend anyone.

Anyway, that's my only apology for the shift in direction, and I will not be sorry after this. The only way to do more writing is to go forward and stop being sorry about the subject matter in my fic (otherwise I'll just wallow in disappointment that I can't please my readers). I feel like I'd do my best writing if I just write something that I'd like to read. I have to write for myself, and not others. If people don't like it, so be it, but if some people do like it, then that'll just be a bonus. The only thing I will apologise for going forward would be if my updates remain irregular and spaced with way too much time between them. I can't promise that I will be steady with updates (since I seem to be incapable of keeping such a promise), but I'll try my best to update when I can. Also, there isn't any ETA on the next chapter, I haven't yet read back through The Bright Equestrian Moon to see what I'll be doing next in it.

Thank you to anybody who actually read this whole post, and double thank you to anybody who might appreciate the change in direction and sticks around.

Edit: Grrrrrreat... It turns out that my Microsoft Word license needs to be renewed... No writing today...
