Starting the New Year with a UGH · 2:45am Jan 7th, 2018

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope the holiday season was fun and restful for you. :)

Me? Eh, not so much. I'll explain, but try to keep it semi-brief.

Just before the holidays, I came down with my usual winter sinus flare-up, and thanks to an ill-timed business trip, it bloomed into a full-on sinus infection. And given how bad the flu/cold bugs have been this season, this one was far worse than normal too. So bad, in fact, that it somehow brought along an ear pressure/infection/WTF issue along with it, one that gave me hella bad headaches. Enough to make me feel a little dizzy at times.

A couple of clinic and doctor visits, and a trip to a ENT doctor, left me with a bunch of pills and not much improvement. Things got bad enough just before the new year to land me in the hospital for an overnight stay. They ran a ton of tests on me, and thankfully, all of the really bad/nasty stuff was ruled out. I've been feeling better overall since then, but not 100%.

SO, where does this leave me?

Right now, the sinus infection's pretty well gone, but I still have some ear pressure issues in my right ear, and some persistent sinus inflammation. I still get an occasional dizzy feeling, but it's less than before. Still not normal, of course, but I'm hoping it's fixable. I'm going to my doctor again on Monday for follow-up, so with this narrowed down to a ear-centric issue, hopefully we can figure out how to kick this for good.

As for my writing, I'm going to put all of that on pause for now. At least until I get this figured out and get back to really feeling normal. Hopefully that's soon. :)

I'll keep you folks updated though.
