    PSA: Discord account names

As some of you may know Discord recently decided to get rid of the 4 number identifier attached to your discord account name.

As of yesterday they've begun rolling out the ability for us regular folk to claim our names and at the time of this message nearly all 2015 accounts and some 2016 nitro accounts will be able to claim your name.

    Living the life

    Of a security guard...

So those of you who know me or read my blogs may remember that I work security in a not particularly upscale area, dealing with... troubled adults. Drug addicts, crazies, sports moms... you know, the general public.

Canadian Political Debates (well the english one at least)

Those opening questions though There's a lot of hard questions in there and while the politicians are politicians and dodge with grace they do let slip some of their real beliefs.

So I know I promise a fic for my 100'th follower.
I know I promised you guys would get it (This time for realzies)
But I have an excuse. *looks out at the sea of torches and pitchforks*
No, really! It's a good one!

I'm broke. Like so broke I went the better part of a week without power and still don't have internet back, the less said about my rent the better.
So my mood has been killed and stress is a bit high since I'm now looking for a new job.

Which in itself is an interesting problem.
You see, I love my job. But financially and physically I can't do it anymore.
To make it even worse is that my job has a high level of liability and risk of lawsuits/jailtime. This is mitigated in a big way by working for a company that has your back. My current does, most will fire me if it even looks like I might get sued.
Combine that with the fact I've been in my current job for 9 years and the industry for 11 and leaving either one honestly leaves me more than a bit scared.
I can do whatever I want at my current company and get nothing more than a talking down to. But I can't get enough hours to live as long as the scheduler we have hates my guts. Ownership won't get rid of him 'cause nepotism (and that he's not going to burn out like the last 3 schedulers)

TL;DR
I'm burnt out on stress and have no internet but I will get you guys that story eventually.

What's your job?!

Event Security.
I get paid next to nothing for one of the more complicated forms of security. Every concert, festival, convention or nightclub I work is different, even if it's the same venue how I react must be different. Same goes for hours, some days it'll be a 4 hour shift, other times it'll be 12 hour overnights, sometimes with 2 hours notice.

I'll be honest, I LOVE my job... But I just can't do it anymore. The insane stuff, sure. But not getting a minimum set of hours when I need them? Yeah, done. My mind is willing, my body? Not so much. I shouldn't have started getting grey hairs before 25.

We got your back, m8. It's what we're here for. And event security is fun as hell, no doubt about it, though depending on the company you're with it can be made evil.:pinkiesad2:

Yeah, I worked an Elton John concert on Wednesday. Which brought up the interesting question... Is it technically an insult to call the general public 'sir' when there's someone present who has the actual title of Sir?

4728488
Shit, that's a tough one... I mean, I doubt it, but hell...

None of my co-workers got just how much of a dilemma that question left me. Just a no and moved on to less amusing topics.

Damn, I actually want to figure this out now. :applejackconfused:

It's a simple question with a simple answer... Unless you think about it.

I was honestly going to ask him if I had a chance. He might have found it amusing.
