Some thought about the Season Finale · 8:04pm Oct 30th, 2017
Hey guys!!
Miss me?.....well not really, I'm on here practically every day that I can, just that work keeps me from this site more and more. What can I say--I have a job that I like doing, there's plenty of opportunity for promotion just by doing your job well, as well as incentives that increases your pay.
Anyway, I've been watching Shadow Play--numerous time by now (I love the blind reactions from YouTube--there is always something that makes you exercise your brain a bit)--and as well as the two episodes did to the canonity of not just G4, but EQ Girls, and to a smaller extent the Movie back in October, there are still some things that surprised me.
But this is one thing I noticed, and I'm pretty sure that by now, since it has been at least 3 days since the official season finale in the United States (of which I am still proud of, despite how much we f**k up in the global stage), a lot of you mention it as well.
And no, I'm not referring to the Sirens returning, or finding out that not only the Pony of Shadows is real, but all the Legendary Ponies were real as well, but that was really cool....
....I have to say, I could really see Flash Mane (is that what his name is?) and RD as more than just buddies...hint hint
...but what I am coming from was with the Legendary Pony that is with each of the Mane 6. Obviously there are the pairings like Flash Mane/Rainbow Dash, Rarity/the mare with the curved horn, and AppleJack/Rockfort (again, I'm pretty sure I got the name wrong). The interesting (well to me at least) pairings are Somnambula with Pinkie, and Meadowlark with Fluttershy.
Now hear me out. I know that thanks to the respective episodes we know how they pair up, but I think when the writers wrote this, this is also a bit of a shoutout to G1.
Firstly, we have Pinkie Pie, everyone's favorite excited Earth Pony. We all know that she is based on G1 Surprise, which is a white, blond-colored Pegasus that loves to make people happy and make pranks. Plus she has that trademark 'pronking' as her gait--she doesn't just walk, she bounces, not to mention she loves things about the air, even though she's flightless...Her hero is Somnamula-an Egyptian-like pegasus mare. This does remind me of the fan theory that Pinkie's love of flight and defying gravity could be a refernce to Granny Pie (and the idea that Granny Pie is a pegasus).
Now look at Fluttershy, and her idol/hero, Meadowlark, a Earth Pony mare that is a healer, similar to Zecora. Everyone notices that Flutters is based on G1 Posey, who also is a Earth pony. Interesting that just like Pinkie's idol is someone from another tribe, Flutter's the same for Meadowlark.
I just though it interesting. What do you think?
