Sudden Absence starting Today. · 1:53pm Aug 11th, 2016
This is for all that actually check up on me online, as well know that I'm here most on the time.
This morning, when I attempted to start my computer, it refused to boot up. It gave the Dell logo as well as the loading bar which it usually is about, but was stuck on about 1/3 of the item shown, then I recieved a message saying Hard Disk Drive failure, press F1 to retry or F5 for diagnostics. (for you tech guys--the Error code is 0141_Hard Disk Drive not recognized)
Pulling up F5 and using what it uses, it seems that everything else is working expect for the hard drive.
Long story short---I'm afraid that it's dead. Called tech support earlier this morning, and frankly were of very little help. And since my stupid ass doesn't save and backup like I'm supposed to, pretty much anything on the thing is stuck in there unless someone can extract the data from it and put it on another item. Or to put it straight, I think I've pretty much lost everything, and anything I would probably have to either install on a new machine or search and download all over again, not to mention all of the sites that I've saved just on a whim...DAMMIT, DAMMIT, DAMMIT!!!!!
I had the thing for six years, and in hindsight, I should have seen it coming, but it was working well just last night, then when I decided to shut down the computer (which I barely do manually, I allow it to reset when updates show and download on it by itself), everything seemed normal, even with the proper shutting down sequence and told me not to turn off until they are done.
So the nitty gritty? I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna have to get a new computer, and hopefully one similar to what I had, and hopefully I can get it as soon as possible.
Now what does that mean going forward, you ask? I'm not gonna be able to get online like I can, in the immediate future. I can still get online with my iPod, and using the web on my PS3 connected to the Internet, but compared to an actual computer with mouse and keyboard, the comparisons are like going to the library on a bicycle vs. getting in the car and driving there. BIG difference, in time, effort, and other things.
So consider this an unofficial hiatus, at least until I can get a new computer and be able to get online again to my expectations.
....so this is what withdrawal feels like....even just a little. it sucks...:
Thanks for the support.
Signing off.
