Obligatory Halloween is coming post · 7:43am Oct 28th, 2017
What have I been doing to relax between writing and doing my normal everyday life? Well I'm glad you asked. Well since I love the idea of Halloween more so the original scary feel and slightly occult idea and less children being terrible and scaring me and giving me panic attacks kind of thing that happens now.
Why I've been reading a lot of horror/ supernatural comics. So I've been binging the Hellboy verse and its pretty rad. It's definitely my aesthetic- monsters and war and apocalypse and myth type stuff. It's kind of great fun.
But what about stories of a Halloween nature? Well I have one or two- sure my attempts are dead but that was more me being unable to see a vision and stick to it- there's my incomplete Rarity story I never bring up cause its super short and should be longer since it doesn't do anything since I always wanted to come back to it but I always thought it was a bad start that was going to have Rarity become a living crystal pony- made of actual crystal, through scenes reminiscent of the Fly and turn Ponyville slowly and painfully into living crystal zombies that Sweetie Belle had to fight, my Twilight story where she falls down stairs, (yes, I know it is the stupidest story ever, I wrote that in one go after I had a waking nightmare, my bad.)
But what about unpublished projects- I.E. Stuff I could work on and release at some point? Well nothing has words but there's this Halloween idea I came up with like three years ago where a wight- in this case a creature of pure spite born from a dead pony- haunts the foals of Ponyville. Hell, if I want to be completely honest, the idea reeks of IT and The Headless Horseman jammed into one. It was something since horror wasn't usually my thing and sounded fun- I shelved the idea cause I had no time and never thought I could keep a schedule anywhere in the months I was at school which was all the time. Sweetie Belle would feature prominently in it. Another idea I had was that Discord won and combined with Twilight Sparkle during his rampage in Season 2- being heavily inspired by Lewis Carroll's works- I had the idea that Sweetie Belle would be the main character in Wonderland, with the secondary character being Opal in the role of the Cheshire Cat. I had written like a thousand words but tired of it- not that it is bad but my original idea was going to be that Sweetie, being a doll, can not talk throughout the entire story. At one point she would cut open a mouth for her to speak finally and what would happen is that stuffing would pour out and be red like blood, and the surgery bit would be quick and painful, making her new mouth look horrible and also cause her constant pain. And then I actually started writing and realized that writing a mute character that only worked through actions and the written language can be difficult. So I'm reworking that in my head. That might come out one day- this time not featuring a mute Sweetie, but one that can talk, just maybe muffled.
But another idea I had for a story is a Sweetie that can talk to ghosts and other paranormal activities, like there's an occult division of Canterlot police and an older Sweetie- maybe 25-30 range joined up or was forced to once she discovered her talent. And now after reading Hellboy how I guess I got elements of the idea- though Hellboy didn't create those ideas- just did it well.
And I made a chapter super far back where I wanted to make an MLP/ House of Leaves crossover but it was rejected for approval cause it wasn't super great- it was years ago true, and it was edgy and not fantastic, probably not enough work to make it more of my own idea. But you know who was in it? Sweetie.
And for about three days when I was really into Slenderman, I had an idea where Sweetie would start seeing it. Never got off the ground since that was also 3-4 years ago, and realizing how difficult translating a visual medium like film and making it interesting was, I stopped.
But yeah. For some reason when I want to get horror elements in there somewhere, I choose Sweetie Belle. I have absolutely no idea why I do that

I'm not a fan of halloween myself, but some of those ideas should like they could potently be fun if they get off the ground.
Not so much the Sweetie as a mute and cutting her a new mouth kind of thing, thats a little bit too strange.

I was going for the idea that dolls can't talk angle but yeah realized that writing a mute Sweetie was too difficult in that it just seemed like it was one character talking to themselves with Sweetie starting blankly at things and performing charades. Also it was a 2014 idea so that was definitely my horror explosion. No idea why I use Sweetie Belle for every horror idea, maybe she just seemed best or unicorn magic makes action scenes be a little easier if she's older- probably just a weird coincidence or something.
