Curse my tongue... · 5:43am Oct 27th, 2017
I have a weird accent... or is it a pronunciation tick? If I read a word before I ever hear it I end up giving it my own bit-of-a-spin. I also tend to play with words and their sounds. English is my co-primary language. Sometimes those end up conspiring and I arrive at strange connections.
Current case for me: "Seaquestria". I tend to pronounce Sea with a deep "Eh" sound and my "que" frequently comes comes as "ku-eh", "cu-eh", "kw-eh",or "cw-eh". In my head, "Seaquestria," sounds very close to, "Sehquestria," or "Secuestra"; if I change the ending, I arrive at "Sequester"(Eng) and to "Secuestro"(Esp). The first one means, "to hide or isolate". The second one means "kidnapping".
Yikes.
