Horizon: Zero Dawn review · 11:53pm Oct 18th, 2017
Well, I've just finished Horizon Zero Dawn, and holy crap, what a game! The graphics are amazing, the story line is amazing, and the characters are amazing! And for those of you who don't know, Horizon: Zero Dawn is an open world type of game, and set a thousand years into the future, and is a post post apocalyptic world where humans live in primitive tribes and mechanical beasts roam free. You play as a girl named Aloy, and she is raised by this guy named Rost, and both of them are outcasts. It's never really explained why Rost is an outcast, but that's not really important. Aloy enters in this competition to prove her self useful and to hopefully learn more about her mom and where she came from. But then an explosion knocks her off of a small(ish) cliff and kills Rost. Aloy is made into a Seeker, and she can leave her trip now. She explores the world, finding out more about the explosion and why she was targeted. She finds out that she is....I'm going to go with related for now to a woman named Elizabeth Sobeck, and that Elizabeth helped make an A.I that would help continue life after this huge robot accident happens. Basically, these robots that can feed off of living matter to power themselves went rogue and started consuming and replicating at an alarming rate, and Elizabeth creates Project: Zero Dawn, to help bring life from lifelessness. And it works. She and many other people help create several A.I's, the one at the center being G.A.I.A. There are others named after Greek gods, representing a specific thing, like H.E.P.H.A.E.S.T.U.S controlling the production and creation of the robots that you encounter during the game, and A.P.O.L.L.O being in charge of all the information. Only two of the A.I's are important: G.A.I.A and H.A.D.E.S. H.A.D.E.S is in charge of an extinction protocol, in case G.A.I.A messes up with repopulating the planet. Aloy also learns here that she is actually a clone of Elizabeth Sobeck, not just related. She continues on ger adventure and eventually defeats H.A.D.E.S and the Deathbringer that he uses to actually fight you. After that are several cut scenes. The first one is basically just Aloy and the people that she met and helped cheering about saving the world. The second is Aloy finding Elizabeth Sobeck and her home, which is very deteriorated, of course. And then there is the credits, and then the finale cut scene. There was a guy helping you along named Silens, and he somehow manages to extract H.A.D.E.S from his main body and into this little handheld thing, and starts asking him questions, like who awakened him? That's why I can't wait until the sequel get's released on November 7. Well, see you all later, and hope you have a good day!
