Shine is back · 12:32pm Oct 7th, 2017
What can I say? It's been too long. Real life decided to latch itself around my windpipe and bury me alive. During the interim since I've last updated any of my stories, I've moved out of my house, gotten stalked, severed ties with a family member, changed churches, gained a new step-family, became suicidal AGAIN, snapped out of it AGAIN, and started looking for a new job.
So yeah, life happened. I haven't fallen out of favor with the show or anything like that. Don't worry guys. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. But back to the story.
After everything, I decided to just transcribe one of my experiences directly into the story. Where despite me getting emotionally worked up enough to lash out at some of my friends, they stuck by me regardless and helped me put myself back together. To the point where one of them actually intervened to stop me from killing myself and got me the help I so desperately needed.
Sunset Shimmer goes through a similar experience in chapter two. I realized that since I took out the Celestia encounter from the first Shine, I needed some other way to encourage the girl enough to set the story into motion. Having the Humane 5 heal her (both emotionally and physically) right after she's lashed out at them conveyed more emotional depth than a mere pep talk.
For the rest of the story, I'm going to try and keep the Reality Subtext to a minimum to avoid making it too uncomfortable to read, but I hope the few of you that still remember this thing will stick around.
You went through heck in a hand basket, and came back stronger for it with friends by your side. Good on you, man.
