Bloody took me longer than anticipated, as well as having to split the chapter in half because it went past 20k words. I draw a hard line on length there, so it worked out that I was able to break the chapter almost exactly in half. This is kind of why I so rarely say when a chapter will be coming. Of course, maybe setting myself some deadlines might be motivational now.
First half is Hidden Motives, and is rather introspective alongside some hints of things going on behind the scenes, a taste of Vojin's past, and generally feels almost subdued. Although I say subdued because of the second half.
The second half will be it's own chapter as Hidden Risks. Almost done by the way, just have to finish off the complex ending scene because there's a mountain of hidden pieces at play in a small span. The bulk of it is Bright Spark showing off more than her slutty side, and a major step to where Vojin will eventually be is taken. Don't want to go spoiling things, so I'll just say Bright Spark finally gives the first real taste of what the Disciples are like.
You, dear reader, have seen only whispers and hints. The next chapter will give a first taste.
When the group goes up to Canterlot for Hearth's Warming, the Disciples will show a good sample of why they're feared.
I can hardly wait to introduce you to what they really are.
Why many of them can't risk going out in public among civilians, and why they're sometimes called battle-mages of last resort.
