Clarification on the Glimmer subject. · 5:21pm Aug 23rd, 2017

I do not hate all Starlight Glimmer fans. I hate glimfans, the crazy ones. However, people have told me they thought glimfan was just short for "Literally all Starlight Glimmer fans". And I can see why. So I'll put that to bed right now. Glimbots. I will now begin calling the crazy Starlight Glimmer fans Glimbots. Glimbots, Glimbots, Glimbots.

I do not hate all Starlight Glimmer fans.

I also don't hate Starlight Glimmer that much. I think she's a good character concept that was executed poorly, and in her current state, I can't really call her a good character. While she made a good villain, I feel she turned into a villain sue too quickly, suddenly being able to talk two child bullies and their victim and their victim's best friend into becoming friends instead of fighting in under ten seconds offscreen, and suddenly being able to battle a fully-enraged Twilight Sparkle to a standstill multiple times a day and succeed in her objective each time, but that's neither here nor there. It felt like someone, or multiple someones, on the writing team fell in love with this character, and wanted this character to become the new Seventh Mane Six Member even more than I want some pizza right now.

You can like whatever you want.

Yes, on the internet, you can like whatever you want. Even if what you like or want to like is bad. A lot of people that are new to the internet have trouble understanding this point, but when people criticize things or call things bad, that doesn't take away your ability to like them. It might make you see things in a new light, but if you genuinely like something, that can't be taken away from you. You are allowed to like Starlight Glimmer. I don't take issue with that. You can like Starlight Glimmer, Steven Universe, Pogs, Boku no Pico, Cassie from Animorphs, Caesar's Legion, Pachirisu, anything you want, whether it's good or bad. You can even consider them good if you want. I'm not your boss. I can't make you stop liking what you want to like.

However, you can not attack and insult me for not liking what you want. You can not claim I'm "Missing the point of the show" that used to be about friendship and tolerance, or "Missing the point of an episode" that directly insulted me for being part of a fanbase that once discussed and kinda still does discuss episodes and which ones are superior or inferior. You can not claim I'm just mad because Faust isn't working on the show any more, and you can't claim I'm just mad because your favorite character is getting the spotlight at the expense of other characters and the show and its internal consistency instead of mine. If you want me to respect your opinions, respect mine.

I once watched a video that claimed Yooka-Laylee was a terrible game. Yes, I watched it, even though I like Yooka-Laylee. I listened to it, and it was interesting. He's right, they do use low-tier collectibles wrong fairly often(Hiding ordinary 1-gems like they're 10-gems), and the levels are too big and spacious compared to the amount of stuff in the levels(This point didn't bother me that much). That doesn't take away from the game's good points, they're just points to consider when considering the overall product. I don't personally think Starlight Glimmer really has any good points right now, but these are fictitious characters! They're not real. They aren't going to read my analysis posts and start crying. And you shouldn't do that, either.

If you disagree with my reasons for disliking Starlight Glimmer, that's fine. We can have a debate about it. You can bring up her good points, I'll bring up her bad points, we might even bring up ways she could be written better. We'll have a mature and friendly conversation, and it'll be nice. Much nicer than attacking me for disliking Starlight Glimmer will be. To be honest, I've always wondered WHY people like Glimmer, but no Glimmer fan has ever told me. The ones I've met have only attacked me for not already knowing why I should like her, which is ridiculous. That kind of behavior only breeds resentment. But I'm willing to put that resentment aside and have a proper discussion about this. To be fair, I think a lot of the problems with the way Glimmer's being written are also problems with the newer seasons themselves, and blaming the character itself for sometimes being written by bad writers would be silly, but I'll talk about that another time.

I do not hate Starlight Glimmer fans. I do not hate their headcanons for the character or projections onto the character. I do not hate Starlight Glimmer lovers. I dislike Starlight Glimmer, the nu-mlp episodes, and the directionless direction this show has been taking lately. I hate the rabid Glimbots that attack people that don't like Starlight Glimmer or her episodes, and I hate the predictable and mean tricks they pull to avoid open fair debate and slander people that don't like Glimmer. I hate that discussions with Glimbots always devolve into "You're just"s and "You're only"s and "You're really"s and ">Implying"s. It's not fun. Glimbots act like it's fun for them, when they say things like "haha i dont even like starlight glimmer that much i just love trolling people that dont like glimmer and making them mad" but it's probably not fun for them any more, either.

I do not hate Starlight Glimmer fans. I hate Glimbots.
