About Fame and Misfortune.... · 4:36pm Aug 12th, 2017
Before I began, spoilers.
So, who else thinks this was a stab at how the Brony fandom tends to overanalyze certain things?
Seriously, this felt like a fandom accusation episode!
And it takes balls to pull off an episode like this, especially since such a premise can be done horribly wrong if written poorly, just look at TTG's "Return of Slade".
But this ep did the concept right in my opinion. Plus it was full of self-referential humor, which is the reason why I found this episode funny at certain points however, I actually cracked up when I heard that one old mare complain "Twilight was better without wings!".
If Slice of Life represents the best aspects of the fandom, then this episode calls out the worst.
I admittedly would have liked the episode if the townsponies had just learned their lesson at the end, after the song. The rest of the episode was alright, if not a bit mean-spirited, but the ending just totally killed it for me.

Well granted, it is like really life (fandoms) where despite you trying to convince someone why one thing is great with them thinking is bad. It usually ends with the person still having the same opinion with the other just giving up to convince otherwise.

Oh my gosh, you think Twilight is the best too?! We should totally be friends!
But yeah, upon closer inspection, ponies will be like that... I just wish Lyra, Bon Bon, Lemon Hearts, etc. weren't part of that mob. I feel like Twilight may have lost some friends, that day...

Eh, show's going to do The Simpsons way of the reset switch to make everything better again.

Eh, good point.
I just realize something, Rainbow Dash wrote about her adventures with Daring Doo in the friendship journal. Does this mean everypony now knows that Daring Doo is real? And if yes, how will Daring react?

They never directly state that they know AK Yearling is Daring Do.
Young Foal: "Tell us about the part where you met Daring Do!"
Keep in mind, they said to tell them about how she met her, not about how she found out who she really was. Plus there's also the fact that Daring Do doesn't really seem to care if anyone knows she's real, just about her secret identity as a writer, considering she had no problem outing herself as real in "Stranger Than Fanfiction".
So for all intents and purposes they left out that little detail just to make sure no one else knew.

I never thought of that.
