Footnotes and Tangents · 5:31am Feb 5th, 2012
Apparently I've become enamored with Terry Pratchett's writing style, because I've caught myself going off on circuitous tangents or inserting semi-relevant footnotes with a frankly alarming frequency in Perfect For Me. It's funny when he does it - but I'm no Pratchett. This can't possibly end well. I mean, really, a footnote in a tangent? This is getting out of hoof.
Despite the apparently idyllic nature of Equestria, there existed within its borders a fair number of hazards to its inhabitants. A group of scholars in a previous century, after quite a bit of effort and no small amount of personal risk, published a comprehensive list of these dangers, arranged from most to least dangerous. The first two were locked safely in the Royal Vault under Canterlot Castle. The third could only be found deep within the Everfree Forest, and only on the day after a new moon. The fourth was a gifted unicorn with a brilliant idea.[4]
Twilight Sparkle was an extremely gifted unicorn.
[4] The fifth was “Daisy Droplet’s cooking”, referring to the wife of one of the researchers. There has been some debate in the intervening years over whether the document truly represented the proper application of scientific rigor.
(Also - spoiler alert - re: the latest episode, RD's broken wings are now canon. I'm not sure if I should be proud or ashamed that I had just parodied that.)
Um, Dash never broke her wings. She sprained ONE of them.
They were bandaged not in a cast.
They only took a couple weeks to heal rather than the months a break or even fracture would have.

The treatment was ridiculously short, yeah, but wasn't the break right there on the x-ray?

Ponies bounce back fast, remember twilight and the plethora of items that fell out of the strangely floating moving truck?
