The Shadowbolts · 11:05pm Jun 25th, 2017
Seems some read my blog more often than the story comments so I will write a similar comment here. A more in depth look to be sure but its a blog.
Yes, I made them seem like some mix between something out of Kickass and The Purge. Yes they are really really over the top stupid. Teenagers are kind of amoral idiots when they want to do a thing.
But I never said they were good monster hunters. I mean its not the Hunger Games with its weirdly competent kids, its just some kids doing some vigilante justice in their eyes in saving the town of monsters that totally exist cause they saw it on Youtube and also the best Academic nerd jocks that are rich and snooty. I literally saw the movie they debuted in and thought wow well that's some Ubermensch ideas right there.
Or maybe I thought way too hard about a children's movie that completely failed to show anything like highschool. Also seeing how awesome the characters thought the Shadowbolts were in terms of the school rivalry of them always winning. Of course I would make some weird sports allegory about some hotshot team knowing about how good they are and slipping up in their skills. Of course I ,made it silly, I mean getting attacked by six girls dressed up as almost superheroes with no real identity. The mask is a safety thing. Most think of the job they are doing as a good thing. The leader though is the star quarterback in the analogy- not the humble one, the one that really gets into the hype and loves every moment of what they do. That one did most of the talking. That one is the one that's maybe too into the whole hunting monsters thing. She's the one that's so focused on the mission now that she's almost playacting a superhero. Just so happens her hero idea turned into some kind of psychopathy.
I mean its a team of six girls that fight monsters on the regular. If I was really anime that's literally a lot of magical girl shows. They messed up with Moondancer. So the plot of the story started. Does this mean the story is over I mean its now into a whole other act.
Is it super dumb? Almost definitely, I have super on the nose dumb ideas all the time. This is probably the only time I've said to myself- listen to the critics, don't shut down and write what's there.
If it turns out its some almost genocidal idiocy about monster hunters having fun while they kill people that just so happen to have monster powers and we see through the eyes of the monsters and therefore past the rather horrible logic of saving a city that has really dealt with this for centuries without a problem- that's their bad. In the saving of the city they've messed with killing a ton of vampires and also a few other magical creatures. That's why they had to specify which fighting protocol to use.
They haven't just been fighting vampires. They've been pretty much messing with the balance of everything and it's all because a few girls got way too into saving the day.
The worst enemy they have is themselves.
