Musical Musings: Red Star Martyrs · 2:16am Jun 25th, 2017
Activity is the most bare component to productivity. Seems pretty obvious, but I think that the more productive a person becomes the more it really sinks in. By which I mean I'll probably have to keep writing something to keep myself motivated given my work ethic. With this in mind, here is my first entry into what I would like to be a music discussion segment for any who may be interested.
The Brony Fandom is, by and large, probably one of the most musical fandoms to ever grace the internet. Maybe even the most musical if the large music posts on EQD is any indication. I don't think it'd be a stretch to say that we all appreciate a myriad of different kinds of tunes, and in the name of productivity and music, I'll write about what sounds nice. Besides, why not? Blogs seem to be able to be whatever any individual would like them to be, so I see no reason to not talk about music here.
Anyway, back to the real subject at hand. "Red Star Martyrs" is a more old-school style reggae band with quite a lot of really chill vibes. Sound wise I'd say it's more of a modern take on the older and cooler ska drums with really thickly accented Jamaican vocals to boot. If you like Bob Marley or Burning Spear, you may enjoy the sound that "Red Star Martyrs" has to offer.
Personally, I adore reggae as a genre. I suppose it's sort of like lo-fi in that it's possible to put it on low and let it be a real nice backdrop to whatever is going on. I know when I'm cleaning or writing reggae typically goes to the top of my list, depending on how I feel on that particular day. I discovered "Red Star Martyrs" while watching a neat Youtube channel called "Ras Kitchen". Magnificent content on there by the way, and I'd highly recommend if you enjoy cooking and/or learning about culture in general.
What else is there to say? If you like more relaxed reggae, there's a fine chance you'll enjoy this band. I'll write about a lot of different bands and genres of music, but this is just one I've come across recently. Sometimes it's nice to go on an audio quest and find something new.
Link to "Ras Kitchen" as well, since I mentioned them.

Have fun with the tunes and rasta recipes.
