Hey, guys! In celebration of the Equestria Girls web series coming out, I made a video review of the first movie on Youtube. Don't take this as me ordering you to or asking me to, this is just my way of promoting my video. You can finally get to hear my voice, hear my opinions, and see my attempts to entertain you. And if you like that video, you can watch my previous videos (but be warned, it

    I've changed my name

I've finally did it. I have changed my username and now I'm no longer called "IHateBronyFandom". I now have a much friendlier name of "ImNoPony". It'll probably still gunna erk some people, but at least I won't come across as a hateful-*****.

Equestria Girls Special: "Mirror Magic" Review

Ok, this is my last blog review of the "recent" Equestria Girl specials. Sorry that it's been awhile since my last post... but it was my birthday the other day so I took a few days. In fact, one of my presents was the "Legends of Everfree" movie DVD. However, that is going off topic. I got some opinions and thoughts I want to tell you all about.

Equestria Girls Special: "Movie Magic" Review

Ok, I think it's time to post my next review blog on the recent Equestria Girls specials. Actually, the morning after I post my first blog review on "Dance Magic" [which you can read here], Dr Wolf uploaded his video review on Dance Magic too. I thought I would be competing with the good doc' to see who can get his opinion out first,

Equestria Girls Special: "Mirror Magic" Review · 12:39pm Jun 18th, 2017

Ok, this is my last blog review of the "recent" Equestria Girl specials. Sorry that it's been awhile since my last post... but it was my birthday the other day so I took a few days. In fact, one of my presents was the "Legends of Everfree" movie DVD. However, that is going off topic. I got some opinions and thoughts I want to tell you all about.

And with no more delays, here is my review on "Mirror Magic"

Premise
Sunset was writing to Princess Twilight (at the food court in the mall) about her worries that magic is leaking into the human world but there haven't been any magical incidents since the one at Camp Everfree. However, things are a little bit frustrating for "SunShim" (Rainbow Dash's nickname for her) since she was on the last few pages of her (phone)journal. But don't worry. Princess Twi quickly contacts her and informs Sunset that she has a new (phone)journal for her back at Equestria and tells her to pick it up.

After she build up her courage, Sunset went back to her homeworld of talking ponies to pick up her new book. But when she arrived, the only person pony(person) she finds was Starlight Glimmer. "Apparently", a friendship problem had come up and Twilight couldn't be there to give Sunset her book and so requests Starlight to do it for her. After exchanging greetings and be like: "Hey! Twilight told me about you!", Starlight gave Sunset her new book (which the cover has a mix of her and Sunset's Cutie Marks). But as Sunset was about to return to the human world, Starlight informs her that she is curious about this foregn world and asks to come along. After some prodding, Sunset let's Starlight tag along.

But meanwhile, Juniper Montage, angry and vengeful towards the Hu-Mane 7 for foiling her plans in the last special, is working at a movie theater by her uncle after he fired her from the film studio. But as she was moaning about her current predicament, she found a mirror that had been imbued by the leaked magic from Equestria. Not only does it shows Juniper a version of herself that she want to see, it also can open up a pocket dimension for her to wish away stuff that she doesn't want. With this, Juniper cracks a scheme to get her revenge on the Rainbooms.

Thoughts
When the premise for this special was leaked a few weeks/months ago, bronies was saying looking forward to seeing Sunset returning to Equestria. However, the thing that they mostly want to see is a possible reunion with Princess Celestia. When I heard that, I was like...

Yeah, you all were dreaming if you honestly expect that to happen and I was proven right. Sunset met no other being in Equestria except for Starlight Glimmer.

Speaking of which, I really enjoyed Sunset's and Starlight's interactions with each other. They act really kind and supportive to one another and... I'm gunna say it; they look really cute together. Maybe because of their similar character background, they find it really easy to get along with one another. However, not once did they divulge their history to each other (or at least on screen). And yes. I would ship them.

Also, the scene where Sunset return to Equestria and she forgot on how to be a unicorn was funny and chuckle worthy. It went on for a little bit too long but I still like it. However, remembering the first movie, Sunset had much easier time re-acclimate to being a pony again on her first return trip then the second. Eh. The creators probably had forgotten about that moment.

However, the biggest shocking thing for me about this special was Juniper Montage, the villain. You see: the first Equestria Girls special that I saw was this one: "Mirror Magic". When I first saw Juniper, I just thought she was just some bratty teenager who thinks that she should get so much more then she deserve. However, seeing how kind and nice she were in the last special, I'm just jaw-dropped shocked by how different she were in these specials and I got a deeper understanding on why she's so angry. It isn't a bad thing for me but it is still surprising.

If I do have one thing that is a problem, it would be the "monster" at the end. Kind of like Demon-Shimmer, Midnight Sparkle and Gaia Everfree, we have somebody getting corrupt by some tainted magic and get's transformed into a humanoid monster. Except this time it... it isn't that intimidating. Unlike the previous examples that I stated, this villain is just some 10 foot woman in a dress with the only added ability is enhance strength. Sure, they have a magic mirror that can suck things up in a pocket dimension, but it gets stolen by Starlight and then she plays "Keep-Away" with it until she convince the villain to stop what she is doing. I'll be blunt: Most. Underwhelming. Climax. Ever!

Also to note: the only tie-in to the first special ("Dance Magic") that they have in this episode is the Rainbooms and Shadowbolt's music video that will randomly start playing throughout the mall. I guess they got no other way to tie this in with the 1st special but it is amusing to see Juniper Montage getting triggered every time that she sees it.

Final Verdict
Honestly, this episode got some really steep requirements for you to like it. If you like the idea of Sunset (temporally) returning to Equestria and the inclusion of Starlight, you'd consider this episode just fine (great even). However, if you set your expectations just a little bit too high or just hate Starlight Glimmer, then you won't find anything else to hook you in. The main conflict with the bad guy is underwhelming and the only good point that I have is Starlight and Sunset. I still consider this a worth to watch (with a little bit of caution).

Well that was my attempt to be an analyst and reviewing the three Equestria Girls specials of 2017. Let me know if you enjoy them. Honestly, I probably won't do more blog reviews like this in the future so these are probably the only one that you are going to get. However, if it's on YouTube and I have my own channel, then maybe (JUST MAYBE!) I'll do more Equestria Girl reviews in the future.
