That the newest episode has any effect on me as a shipper than ur wrong, Sugar who?
Sorry, but my multishipping does not extend to Rainbow or Mac, they rather go together or have nobody at all
*gets ready to draw Rainbow looking fly as Sugar who becomes a distant crush as Mac falls in love with the best pony*
I was thinking you were going to make a picture of our OC kidnapping the harlot leaving Mac in the arms of RD
4532713 Dash is going to win his heart fair and square, now we could make Sugar who revert back to her "equality" self as punishment

We could always just ship Equestria Girls Mac and Rainbow, since the canon doesn't extend there.
But nah, I'm with ya. Canon's never stopped me shipping what I'm shipping. After all, Spike's got a very clear crush on Rarity and I always pair him with Applebloom.
Easy to make the relationship not work out since Sugar Bell lives in Our Town, while Mac's probably not gonna leave Sweet Apple Acres anytime soon, so the distance would be a main contribution. That and since it's, as the show calls it, 'Mac's first crush'...Pretty rich, coming from the show that tried to push the background CheeriMac and had him blushing with Marble (Though that one would be weird but whatever).
Or, you know, just set things in an alternate universe, like I just changed all my fics to do. That works too.
I'll probably get an Equestrian Girls RainbowMac done soon, just to spite the show a little since I found this little loop-hole.
Honestly, I'd be less indignant at the show if, you know, Mac was paired up with a pony we saw more of. I had to remind myself who the hell Sugar Bell even was! I believe she's appeared in, like, three episodes at best!
Though I think I know the mindset. It probably went like: "Who do we pair Mac up with?"
"Um sir? Wouldn't that cause fan backlash, like we had when we tried to pair Twilight up with Flash?"
"I guess, but what if we paired Mac up with...?"
"Fluttershy? Cheerilee? Marble?"
"No, too obvious, No, would ruin the message of the love poison episode and eww, no!"
"How about Rainbow Dash or Twilight? They have fans for their respective shippings."
"And make some of our fans happy?! Forget it, we're Hasbro and bad decisions are part of our company manifesto!"
"...So we pull out of a hat?"
"Hat it is!"
And the thing is, it's probably never even going to come up again. Maybe in passing when they need to have a conflict with farm work (which has never really been much of a conflict in the show but, whatever) so what they've done is piss off all the Mac shippers for no real reason.
Plus they were going for a Beauty and the Beast thing here, which doesn't make much sense considering Mac is far from the worst looking pony, heck he's probably the best. They could've used Hayseed Turniptruck or something. You know, this guy:

Yes there were some good jokes here and there, and it's a nice message. Real romance isn't a fairy tale (even though I'm sure most people over 12 already knew that but still), I just don't think it was worth pissing off, like, seven-eight whole communities of Mac shippers.
I think, all I'm looking for, is some follow up to show it either going well, or going downhill fast. Because, knowing the show, it'll probably just forget the pairing had even happened in the first place.
Keep on keepin' on and, as all Captains say:
I'M GOING DOWN WITH THIS SHIP!
4533722 yup
It was a crush, 3 days later and we find out she can't handle Mac working 24/7 but doesn't make an effort to visit, relationship over.
That probrably another reason I like MaconDash, they're both loyal working ponies who understand the importance of each others jobs, and would likely make time to visit eachother around a busy work schedule because they want to make it work.
I've always said a relationship is a about a compromise, your not always going to agree on something and yeah couples argue but as long as you work things out in the end you'll be fine.
MLP iseij background ponies to establish a couple is a basic way of "you don't know much about them so they are together" and it's lazy
