    A Diamond Birthday to Celebrate

Diamonds, they are often found 'In the Rough'.
They come in many shapes and sizes.
But the most sought after feature is the brilliant fire that shines inside the clarity the finished gem.

The Luck O' the Irish, and a Hungarian Mare

March 17, St. Patrick's Day, the anniversary of when I joined this MLP community, eight years ago, and, as I've recently found out, the birth date of a very very unique individual in the Thoroughbred world.

Derby Day 2017 · 10:03pm May 6th, 2017

Welcome to my traditional Kentucky Derby post.

I know I've been a rather quiet Old Racehorse for some time now. But the thunder of hooves has roused me from my slumber, so here is Sir Barton's Blog for the 143rd Kentucky Derby.

Out of this years field I have some likes Classic Empire (half brother to 2015 triple Crown Winner, American Pharoah), Gormley (Ridden by Victor Espinoza) and Irish War Cry, but I'll give a special Brony nod to the No. 20 horse, Patch.

Patch, though considered something of a long shot is a horse with his 'eye' on the prize. Which is all the more interesting as he only has one eye. Yup, he lost his left to a nasty infection, and after recovering from it's removal hasn't missed a beat in his conditioning according to his trainer Todd Pletcher.

If a one eyed race horse can run in the Kentucky Derby, maybe we all can keep going for our goals too.

Happy Racing folks!

Safe running to all.

Sir Barton (Winner of the 45th Kentucky Derby, and One Old Racehorse)

Heard about this guy on the radio. The advice was to not bet on him just because it would be embarrassing to tell the wife you lost betting on a horse with one eye.

4522751 He's not really tho horse to bet, but he's the one that you hope for. :scootangel:

Of course there is a horse named Practical Joke in the field. Sounds like the name for a son of Pinkie Pie maybe. :pinkiegasp:
