Total Disney Beauty and the Beast Upset! · 1:06am Mar 26th, 2017
Well, months of waiting and months of hype built up with familiar music that started the intro to the beloved classic and teaser trailers and what do we get? A lifeless copy of Beauty in the Beast with a lead playing Belle who was never really a great actress to begin with, Sure, we may like Emma Watson, but that is only because we grew up with her as Hermione Granger and even then, her, and the main trio's acting (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson) they were all just passible as far as their acting goes. With the animated Beauty and The Beast, yeah there were some minor problems, but at least you could clearly see that the were trying to get clear definite emotions through each line and through each scene. With this live-action one, it just felt like they were trying to poorly copy the original with unnecessary things added in and key lines and expressions from the original taken out. It made me appreciate the original animated one ten times more. I would not recommend showing this movie to your kids as first exposure to Beauty and the Beast. A lot of people and reviewers may say that they liked it the first time around for a number of reasons, but then again, I was like that with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and when Doug Walker showed me in his video the second time around, I began to see just how many problems it had like for example.....I don't know.......FUCKING JESSE EISENBERG AS LEX LUTHOR!
Doug Walker a.k.a The Nostalgia Critic and his brother Rob give a more perfect explanation than I can for how poorly this movie went:
Here's my ideas of casting for the main characters of Beauty and the Beast
(I'll probably make another blog post later about my fantasy casting for the movie):
For Belle:
Get a woman with actual brown hair instead of Emma Watson's dirty blonde hair
Get a woman who can naturally sing without having to use a auto tune which you can clearly hear in this rendition
Get a woman with a charming, emotionally expressive, slightly deeper voice like what the original actress Paige O'Hara had. NOT A HIGH PITCHED BRITISH CHICK WHO LOOKS LIKE SHE JUST GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL.
Get a woman who can actually display a tolerable rebellious personality to social norms like the original Belle did.
For The Beast:
Get a guy who can actually display a realistic personality of a selfish prince with a short temper who has been locked away from society for decades and has no prior knowledge of tact and charm like an actual member of nobility should have with proper teaching.
Get a guy who can display the personality of a "beast": a guy who has a short temper and snaps at anything he doesn't approve of.
