Well, It's That Time of Year Again...

One thing I always hated about March was how back-and-forth the weather was, and this year is no exception. It went from 30 degrees Fahrenheit to almost 70 in the span of a weekend. What does this usually mean for most people?

Fucked up immune systems, that's what.

So, in other words, I'm sick. First time of the year. It's not that bad so far, though. Just a sore throat. Luckily illness doesn't come easily for me, as I only get sick once or twice a year, at most.

But I'm not the only one affected right now. My sister got strep throat, so bad that she couldn't even move yesterday. A woman I work with also had to leave today because she has strep (probably from my sister; we all work in the same room. So guess what I probably have, too!), and another woman I work with has a daughter who just got over the flu.

So, yeah. March fucking sucks.

In other news (and this will be big news for those who haven't looked at my "About Me"), I have finally started the process of joining the U.S. Army. I was actually supposed to meet with my recruiter tomorrow after work. Hopefully my sickness won't fuck with that.

If I do end up going, I'm going to try and become a Cavalry Scout. Put simply, it's a combat recon job. Cav Scouts go in and figure out where the enemy is, what they're doing, what the terrain looks like, that kind of thing. High risk, high excitement.

Also, since I have kept you guys in the dark about this for way too long...

The next chapter for my story The Defector has been in progress since November. For this, I apologize. I have been working on it, I swear. It's technically almost finished. I'm at the last scene, but I can't seem to progress any further than that. I don't know whether it's from burnout, or if there's something wrong with where I'm trying to take the story. If it's the latter, then I'm kind of fucked, as a lot of what I plan to do with the story afterwards hinges on the scene I'm stuck on going a certain way. I don't think I can make it work otherwise.

So, while I'm figuring out this problem, please just bear with me. I'm not going to throw in the towel just yet. I'm just going to take a step back and see if I can skirt around this particular problem. In the meantime, I recently got hit with a bout of inspiration for a different project. I'm not sure if anything will come of it, so I don't want to get into specifics until I hammer out the details a bit. But if I do make something out of it, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I will admit it will be a little different from what you guys are used to seeing from me.

So, yeah. That's how my life has been going the past week or so (or, months in regards to writing. Sorry again, guys). Hopefully I can get over this sickness soon, so I can get on with more important things.
