Hello, you friendly folks. It's been a winsome week for me, what about you?
As you may have noticed, I've moved to a new avatar, since it occurred to me that I might as well have some unity between my account name and the visual depiction of such. Just threw it together real quick in some random paintbrush app. Simplistic and modern, right?
I may or may not have taken this week off of writing.
Okay, I did.
Not entirely, but mostly. Sorry about that, I just was feeling a little iffy about the direction of my works in progress. Hopefully I can get back on track this weekend.
In the meantime, this whole "recommendations" thing has been making quite a splash amongst the more popular authors of the site. It's been generating a lot of meaningful discussion about how this site could be improved - not by the mods or the owners, but by the users. There really are a lot more people on here who try to write than there are who want to read. I personally try to do a bit of both, but it's a balancing act, you know? Anyhow, to encourage myself to read more works by other authors, I was thinking that maybe I would take a page from DPV111's book and start doing a weekly review. Obviously there are tons of writers here who need all the recognition they can get, and why shouldn't I be one to try and give it to them? Of course, I don't have that many followers, but that's not what it's really about. It's not about merely directing traffic to a fic. No, the point of recommending a story is to let the author know that they're doing a good job, they're appreciated, and hopefully to increase the amount of constructive criticism that author receives.
I also just like writing about others' writing.
Thoughts?
Go for it
