It's been a long, long time.
I've dealt with some stuff in my life and I thought about maybe picking Social Standards up again.
My main fear is that my followers and readers HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED and because of that, have ceased to care.
I am seriously finishing the SS update AS WE SPEAK.
I'm so sorry to all of my readers for the delays, it's been really, really wacky and I'm very lucky to have such an accepting audience like you guys.
As of now, Social Standards is officially off hiatus. Thank you for your patience.
The absolutely amazing and fabulous Dalken Starbyne is a good friend of mine, and I asked him if he might be okay with reading my favorite bit of dialogue from Social Standards as Soarin, and, (because I don't imagine him with his canon voice at all, mind you) it came out sounding
SOCIAL STANDARDS WAS FEATURED ON EQD!
I'm seriously lightheaded right now. Wow.

I've actually tried several times to get a decent recording along in my newly (poorly) put together recording area, and between a few hardware/software failures and my slight dyslexic tendencies have caused me to flub way more words than I'd like to allow while recording. It will certainly get done, though! Hopefully this week.
I'd say Sunday at the VERY least as I'm working all this weekend (Certainly not ideal for my work).

Thank ya' kindly; I actually am trying to refrain from voice acting it as much as possible because I dislike voice acting on something like this where I'm the only one reading for every character- I do try to read it as it sounds to me though. Old hobbies die hard.
In any case, I may be completely off base in my assertion, but a lot of the people on EqD, bless their souls, seem to be sort of missing the point of this story; this isn't simply a colt-on-colt shipping; it actually has a message. If it were just a shipfic, then there would have been a lot more (nudge nudge) by now, usually. The family being conservative and Braeburn effectively having his own sexuality repressed because he is conditioned to view it as wrong- it's a message something that's rarely explored for how, perhaps, taboo it is and genuinely alluring all at the same time.
Then again, people will take from it what they will. I think I'll end it on that note and let you mingle with the inevitable (Hopefully; it's well deserved) wave of people. It's good to see something different featured.
