Pokemon Sun and Moon Final Thoughts · 11:04pm Jan 21st, 2017

Upon having completed both Sun and Moon, I'd like to give my final thoughts on them. The games were enjoyable, but they definitely aren't my favorite installments in the series for several reasons (by the way, the role of favorite installment falls to Pokemon Ruby, followed by Pokemon Crystal, Pokemon Omega Ruby, and Pokemon Y). First, there's no way to refight any of the trainers and there's no special fight club like in X and Y, so there's no way for you to level grind with Pokemon you're trying to evolve besides fighting wild Pokemon (heaven help you if you're trying to evolve the seven Psuedo-Legendary lines you can find in Alola because that will mean you'll have to raise them to a bare minimum of level 45 for Beldum, Jangmo-o to reach their final forms, Level 48 for Gible, Level 50 for Bagon and Goomy, who requires rain in the overworld mind you, Level 55 for Dratini, and a whopping Level 64, which is the highest level a Pokemon can evolve at, for Deino!). Secondly, when X and Y came out, I was glad to see that the skewed experience gain from Black and White (the higher your Pokemon's level is compared to the opponent's the less Exp they'd gain from defeating it) had been removed . . . only for it to return in Sun and Moon!

All in all, on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 8.
