Oh EQD, you amuse me · 3:13pm Sep 25th, 2012

So, let's start this by just pointing out I am not angry. I've been laughing about this all morning. You see, for shits and giggles I submitted In an Instant to EQD, mostly out of curiousity to what they'd say. As expected it got the thumbs down and the return email pointed out some grammatical errors that interesting to know (if I was an english major). They made some valid points that I can understand and possibly make use of. That said it still highlights what I find to be EQD's fundamental flaw:

They take this stuff way too seriously.

Now, I understand and appreciate the desire for proper grammar and spelling,

nOboDY wantz to reed a sentence THaaT Luks lEIk dis ( <-- that physically hurt me to write). Anyway, the problem with the way EQD approves stories is that once you submit it then one person takes one look and gives you a yes or no. You can't have a dialogue with that person to defend why you made the storytelling choices you've made, and you only get three total chances to submit a story before it's permanently banned from applying.

It's a system that seems designed to take the fun out of what is nothing more then a fun activity.

So yea, I'm unsurprised, and highly amused.

By the way, do I really rely too much on telling vs showing?

Well thats all, chapter five should be ready tomorrow or the day after as scheduled.

Unlucky. To tell you the truth, I have never used EQD. And I'm not saying that to make you feel better. I just don't really use it...

The music and comic posts are about all I really check out, aside from that I don't use it. I just think it's hilarious they take fanfiction so seriously, it's fan stories about pastel colored magic ponies, not Hemmingway.

I've been laughing about this all day :rainbowlaugh:
