Well, that was fun. I can't even describe how pleased I am that so many people enjoyed A Perfectly Ordinary Day in Ponyville. Pony fanfiction writing is my first foray into really creating my own content in, like, a decade, so having readers is a totally new experience to me. I hit the Publish button in the hopes that I could brighten some people's days with what I thought was a pretty well written and fairly funny story. Seeing my faith in my own abilities justified like this, and seeing the number of people whose days I managed to make just a little bit better, was the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. So, I love you all commenting, rating, or even just reading my stuff. (As an aside: when I say I have faith in my own abilities, I don't mean to sound egotistical - I know there are a thousand ways I can still improve! - I just try to err on the side of believing in myself. Modesty, while a virtue, can be downright toxic in too large amounts. I've seen too many fine artists, writers, and musicians suffer from unreasonably low self esteem.)
Now, the all-important question, what's coming up next? I've been, as usual, writing down all sorts of ideas in the little journal I carry everywhere with me. There's still that novel-length epic adventure I want to work on. There's already the beginning of a sequel to Ordinary Day (picking up in the middle of the implied battle at the end and involving, most prominently, crossovers). But I think I'd be doing myself a disservice if I pigeonholed myself into satire before I'd had a chance to try out other types of stories. Still, I won't be going too far afield with the next one - barring any unexpected flashes of inspiration sidetracking me, the next idea I'm working on turning into a story is a romantic comedy. It'll probably be somewhere between Ordinary Day and LUNA Project in length - a single story arc split up over two or three chapters. Here's hoping it comes out well.
Again, I love you all, glad you're enjoying my stuff so far!
Don't worry about pigeonholing yourself. There are plenty of fic writers that write subjects very different from what they started with.
It was a great story, and I laughed quite a couple of times.
Thanks for writing it, you deserve the people that are watching you.
