My Top 5 Games of 2016 (PC) · 9:57pm Dec 21st, 2016
So, here we go, yet again. Another year has come and gone, with even less productivity than usual for me.
Anyways, to hopefully provide you with some content before the year is up, here are My Top Five Games of 2016!
(All my personal opinions due to game play experience).
#5: No Man's Sky - August 2016
Playtime: 123 Hours
At The Bottom For A Reason
No Man's Sky definitely kicked off with an extraordinarily suckish bang, in August this year. First, it didn't work, then, when they got it to work, everyone probably wished it just stayed not working. The initial release kinda sucked, but I was one of the few who enjoyed it for a good 40-ish hours, before I too, felt it got boring. However, just recently, they updated it. BIGTIME. Now, it's full of *most of* the content they promised upon release. Because of this successful "rebirth," it lies at the bottom of the list. Barely.
#4: Osiris: New Dawn - September 2016
Playtime: 7 Hours
The Hidden Gem
Osiris: New Dawn, upon release, was the facade of yet another space survival game just thrown in the mix. But after playing it for a good 7 hours, I feel that it is quite actually very unique. With interesting aliens, and two massive worlds to explore and conquer, (along with a decent MP system), I feel that this game could eventually shine through, and join the likes of Space Engineers, and even maybe even veterans like The Forest.
#3: American Truck Simulator - February 2016
Playtime: 137 Hours
"A Little Victory Toot Toot!" - Nick Wilde
ATS... ahhh. A very niche-oriented game, ATS brings everything it has to offer. Beautiful scenery, amazing places, and of course, trucking. I love trucking simulators, as I find them very relaxing. Therefore, because my personal opinion, it reaches number 3 on this list.
#2: We Happy Few - July 2016
Playtime: 16 Hours (total)
“Welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, welly, well. To what do I owe the extreme pleasure of this surprising visit?” - Alex Delarge
OMG OMG OMG. I literally fangirled over this game for a while. When it was first officially release to Steam in July of this year, I wanted to buy it immediately. Unfortunately, I couldn't. But after playing it at a friend's for a while, and then eventually buying myself, I realized that my excitement was justified. We Happy Few brings an awesome revelation to the world of survival gaming. Based in a dystopian 1960's England, eerily similar to "A Clockwork Orange" (One of my all-time favorite books/movies), We Happy Few offers some of the best experiences in a game this year - topped only by one - which brings it to #2 on this list.
#1: Skyrim - Special Edition - October 2016
Playtime: 369 Hours (total)
Fus Ro Dah!!!
The. Best. Rerelease. Ever. Period. Skyrim: SE was something I waited for a long time to get. And the added perk: It was free to Skyrim Legendary owners like me. Best. Free. Game. Ever. It somehow managed to bring a unique sense and feel to a world I already loved, with enhanced graphics that were already astounding for a game released in 2011. Needless to say, with 700+ hours in the original game, and 360+ in this game (in under 2 months), this is easily the best - in my opinion - game of 2016.
