(RPG-ween) Top Five Hopes for Pokemon Sun and Moon · 6:02pm Oct 22nd, 2016
So the Sun and Moon demo came out a few days ago and everyone feels a little underwhelmed. Whereas in the ORAS demo, we could at least continue going on adventures an occasionally encounter Team Aqua or Team Magma, this demo stops when it stops and we can't even listen to that kickass Team Skull battle theme let alone fight more than three regular trainers. There are various events happening though, so keep your pants on.
This demo DID give us a taste of what's to come, however. Most of our hopes have already been answered, so I wanted to create a list of OTHER things I want to see in the full games. So without further ado, let's get this started!
Number 5:
Previous HMs should be TMs
We've all been there and we can all agree that HMs as a concept really, really, REALLY suck. But it has been officially confirmed by data miners that HMs are gone and are being replaced by the Poke-ride system! Praise Arceus and all that it is!
However, we can't deny that some HMs, specifically Surf, Fly and Waterfall, were really good moves hindered by the fact that they were HMs and we couldn't remove them from a Pokemon unless we went to the Pokemon move deleter and deleted the HMs and blah-blah-blah. Surf in particular is competitively one of the best Water-type moves known to Pokemon players, so to just get rid of that move and leave it for Pokemon to learn it by level-up or breeding would be a crime.
I want brand-new TMs that contain previous HMs, like Surf and Waterfall. Hell, even Strength for being a great Normal-type move for physical Normal-types! This will probably be the case hence why this entry is so low, but I still really want to be able to use Surf again without sacrificing one of my move slots to do so.
Number 4:
Ultra Beasts are "Roaming Legendaries"
Last week, data miners revealed a new kind of Poke Ball known as the Universal Ball. Later that same day, it was confirmed by GameFreak that Ultra Beasts, despite not being Pokemon, would be catchable. What if Ultra Beasts were considered roaming legendary Pokemon in the post-game?
It would be a cool little minigame you could do in order to wrap up the whole Ultra Beast ordeal Alola would be facing. Some of the Ultra Beasts escaped the climax of the story and it's your job to track them down and encapsulate them. Due to them not being Pokemon regular Poke Balls wouldn't work on them, which is why someone (probably Aether or something) developed Universal Balls to capture them. They would have a 1x chance on any normal Pokemon, but a 3x chance on an Ultra Beast. It was confirmed that you couldn't buy or sell Universal Balls, meaning if you ran out Aether would probably supply you with some more.
Just a little thing I thought would be pretty cool. Then afterwards, you could use Ultra Beasts like Pokemon, despite them not being Pokemon in the first place.
Number 3:
The Aether Foundation are the True Villains
Anyone with literally half a brain would have heard this one before. I mean, it's so friggin' obvious! Nonetheless, it's not confirmed so we can't say for sure, but it's still pretty obvious.
It was already confirmed that the Aether Foundation has something to do with Ultra Beasts, but thanks to Lockstin we now know more about the foundation that we ever would have before. Aether is the space separating humans from gods, and Silvally is literally a clone of Arceus. That CAN'T be a coincidence. Furthermore, Lusamine, Lillie and Gladion all share similar genetics: pale skin, green eyes and blonde hair. Somehow, someway, these three are connected whether it'd be siblings, a mother and her twins or so on and so forth. For some reason both Lillie and Gladion are separated from Lusamine, and whether they've run away for her or they're spies for the Aether Foundation, it can't be good.
Even if the foundation turns out to be good, I still want them to be the cause of the evens within Sun and Moon. Like they were doing some experiments on a portal thing and they accidentally released the Ultra Beasts into this world. I would be okay if this was the case, but I still want them to be evil
Number 2:
Team Skull (in general)
There is too much I want from Team Skull that I had no choice but to condense it all into one point less I wanted them to take up the entire countdown. What do I want from the apparent evil team of Alola? I think the better question is what DON'T I want from them?
They've already proven themselves to be one of, if not the BEST Pokemon team ever in the demo, so why not expand on that notion and make them even better? In their description, the official Sun and Moon website mentions that grunts have to purchase their own clothes when first joining Team Skull, so why not have your trainer buy Team Skull garments and sneak into their hideout during the middle of the game? Then if my theory on the Aether Foundation is true, Team Skull could help you out during the climax of the game and turn over a new leaf during the post-game. And Guzma would be the first rematchable team leader to date! I want Team Skull to have so much influence on the story of Sun and Moon that it's insane!
And as a final note, I want Team Skull to be working together with the Aether Foundation to cover the fact the latter is evil. Team Skull would steal away Pokemon and the Aether Foundation would pretend to swoop in and save them! God, that would sound like a great twist!
Number 1:
Ultra Beasts are Persona-like
I'll be posting a theory about this on a later date so I won't go into too much detail about this little theory of mine, but we need to develop various other speculations in the case that Lillie doesn't turn out to be UB-01. Besides, I think this might actually make a bit of sense.
With special help from my friend Kirito-Persona (check him out, he's awesome), I managed to link together a few aspects that Ultra Beasts and Personas from the popular game franchise "Persona" share. For example the Ultra Beasts revealed to us look a lot like some of the other characters in the game, but many people have been saying they don't look anything like Lillie, Lusamine and Gladion. I counter that with "what if they looked like Lillie's, Lusamine's and Gladion's personalities?". UB-01 could very well be Lillie's "Persona" in the sense that they share the same clear yet incomplete views of the world, and Lusamine's "Persona" could be both UB-02s either due to her hidden destructive side and plans (Absorption) or her false motherly beauty everyone seems attracted to (Beauty).
It's a STRETCH, and obviously if Atlus put two and two together we wouldn't see another Pokemon game for quite a while meaning Ultra Beasts would have to be different from Personas some way or another, but the similarities are there. And I will have no one tell me otherwise. Unless the games come out and debunk my theory, which they most likely will.

Something I've wanted to see from the Pokemon games for a while now is the option to actually join the evil organization, whether genuinely or as an infiltrator doesn't matter to me any more.

4266542 Not really, I missed out on quite of few the Pokemon games until fairly recently, so I don't know to what extent Dressing as the Enemy was taken there. But I'm not talking about running around a building in the evil organization's outfit, that's just a quirky mini-game if you ask me, I mean you are told that these people are the evil organization and they ask you then you either tell them yes or no, if you choose no you fight and if you choose yes they tell you they can't just take anyone into their organization and you have to do a series of tasks before you are accepted in the initiation ritual; Or you are a member of an infiltration team sent to learn as much as you can about the evil organization and the game proceeds there.

I really do hope they change them into TMs.
The Pokemon games do have a lot of iconic moves, a few of which are on the best/worst lists of a few Pokemon fans' YouTube channels, and the new Z-moves might cement themselves a few slots in the iconic section of the move sets. I also really hope they keep the Pokeride feature going forward in all the games after Sun and Moon, having Pokemon with freed up move slots for what you want them to have instead of what the game says you need in order to progress further is a real breath fresh air. Also, it looks like your outfit actually changes for the challenge animations as you head into battle, I don't know if it was in X and Y, but I got caught challenged to a fight while using the Pokeride feature and the ride outfit was slapped on where my usual outfit was, which is a nice change of pace.
I'm gonna be honest, Team Skull is looking like those guys that are so annoying you want to hate them, but you just can't. And my biggest hope is that Ponyta and Rapidash are part of the Poké-ride system.

Yeah, I noticed the changing clothes too! I think that was an example of how you would be able to change your outfit in Sun and Moon, which I'm still very happy is returning from X and Y.
ORAS, which keep in mind was a remake of a previous game, experimented with Poke-ride with Latios and Latias who could soar through the sky, so I think its safe to say that future remakes will also utilize the Poke-ride feature. Honestly if not, either have HMs normally removable or suffer the consequences, GameFreak.

Oh hey! Did you know that the Bicycle was confirmed to not appear in Sun and Moon? Yeah, the Tauros Poke-ride is completely replacing it. Or is it? I think something else will be there in place of a bike that's even faster than Tauros's top speed, and what could be faster than a Rapidash?
