After reevaluating things, adjusting that 'Update Schedule' · 8:01pm Aug 24th, 2016
...you know, I realized that between my college work this fall, my part-time job, and the sheer amount of stuff I have planned for this story, I have to make a new schedule.
First and foremost, Act lengths. I have done the calculations, and if I make 8 chapters between every five-chapter intermissions, I should be able to pace the rest of the story in a much more coherent manner, while maintaining some arc things. I'm also setting a personal minimum of at least 4k words per chapter.
...of course, in order to pull that off and not kill myself in the process, I'm going to set a tri-weekly update schedule. I'm still going to try and post exclusively on Sundays. Because of reasons.
Is it because my schedules usually involve Sundays somehow? :p
Schedules are tough. In my experience, they should either be so quick they force you to use the very first thing that comes your head (every week), or a quite long amount of time (a month or two). Every three weeks might be a bit difficult to keep track of, just because it's almost a month long, but not quite. ("Okay, what week does the story update on this month? Last month it was the 2nd week, so if we add a 3 and carry, then...")
But I may be the wrong person to ask. It seems that while studying Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy's sense of humor, I've also had the misfortune to inherit Douglas Adams' ultimate writing technique: "Be stumped for months, then suddenly write almost an entire novel in a weekend in a crazed unhealthy stupor." :p
4170368 ...that bit was a coincidence, hilariously enough. It's more of a foreshadowing thing.
