Good news. I got a lot of free time recently, so I managed to work on the next chapter of Soul’s Rebirth, which I know you guys look forward to reading. I’ve finished most of the meat and bones, all that’s left are the ending part, and a few finishing touches.
I realize not many of you guys really read these posts, since the majority of you tend to flood your ‘groups’ and such until your Feed section is just a massive garbled mess. In case some new reader looks around here searching for news on when the next update will come out, sees this and decides to read it, I figured I put a few of my thoughts to digital paper.
I was thinking about writing a one-shot story or two. Originally, I had a couple of ideas of my own, but I’ve grown to realize that they would be better suited as episodic things of another one of my longer stories, rather than anything else… and yes, I have two stories.
I’m not gonna lie, my Doctor Whooves one is a mess. Excessively self-indulgent, cringy as all hell, and just clumsy in general. It was my first work, and it was a tall order. Landing the Doctor as a character is no easy feat, and most writers forego that in favor of simply making him into a side character, lest they fail miserably like I did.
Even the best episodes of the original series are when he steps into the sidelines as a supportive character for either Sally Sparrow in ‘Blink’, or for Kahler-Jex in ‘A town called mercy’. After all, it’s so much easier to make someone else seem so much more amazing than they really are when you don’t really know what’s under their mask. But having the real main character simply say how amazing he is without him really doing anything, I was not okay with that.
Rather than focus on him swooping down during when the countryside was being terrorized by fart monsters busy killing off side characters like they were at discount, only for the Doctor to reveal that the creatures in question were fatally (and explosively) allergic to pickles all along, or some other such nonsense... No, I would rather have him stop being such a bullshit Jesus character and just have him be… well, an alien trying to relate and struggling with the harsher reality he lived with every day. That, and I also wanted to focus on the messages of hope and wonder that Doctor Who often focuses on. As clumsy as the show may often prove, it is still brilliant for that, at least.
My time working on ‘Time will never tell’ is the only thing that now allows me to be able to do anything worthwhile with ‘Soul’s Rebirth’. As you might’ve noticed, I’m focusing heavily on the morally questionable Necromancer’s personality, rather than diving straight in for the changeling bloodbath. Tackling certain aspects of life that one might not generally enjoy thinking about, and which no one else ever really bothers to help you understand, instead preferring to just ridicule you into submission.
Now that I’ve established Necky sufficiently, the pace will only pick up. Not the actual updates, however. Those are still going to take time, cause I’m a lazy bum like that. To make matters worse for you guys, I was also thinking about working on a couple of short stories on the side. Try my hand at comedy shorts, maybe? It would certainly only help me with regards to the future chapters involving Necky’s escapades. So, any ideas? I would also like examples of comedy fics you’ve enjoyed, for inspiration and for getting a general idea of how to actually make one properly.
Finally, I was also hoping I could take the time to remake my Doctor Whooves story. Pull a few all-nighters. I’ve been wanting to remake it from the ground up for a long time, the bloody thing’s a mess. Characters are too pretentious, or simply don’t really do anything. The pacing is a big, horrid, suffering mess that needs to be put out of its misery. I failed to make the Doctor properly, aiming to make him into a godlike combination of Ekko and Aurelion Sol from League of Legends and failing miserably. I failed to convey my ideas, Crossroads and Fortune Holds didn’t get the limelight they deserved. The ending showdown was decent, but it wasn’t the Doctor. It was a DBZ fight. It didn’t fit in at all, and it only served to finalize how much of an emo cringe my interpretation of him turned out as in my story. I know what I did wrong now, and I would like to try again. It would take a while, however. I would recycle more than three quarters of the chapters I did write, but I don’t know how long it would take. I would also be lying to myself again if I were to say that it would not affect updates on Soul’s Rebirth, or that it would only take a short while.
I’m going to write a few more chapters before I do this, but it is going to happen. I thought I should announce earlier rather than later.
I am glad to hear that your still working on Rebirth. it's your writing so write what ever you want to cause your writing has got make you happy not anyone else. it's just a nice bonus when your writing makes you and me happy when reading it.

4247081 Okay, thanks for the enthusiasm... but maybe calm down a tiny bit.
Sorry for taking so long, anyway. New job, school stuff... also, I only recently figured out what I want this chapter's motif to be. Shouldn't be that much longer, tho.
