Some background music. You're going to need it: we're going to be here a while.

    Status Update, April 2024 Edition

Part of my slowness in writing M.L.G.'s latest chapter is for the usual reasons: tiredness, minor depression, having other things on the mind, that sort of thing. However, in what can only be described as "whimsy", I've recently decided to complete a list of all of the intentional shout-outs and references in the story as of the most recent chapter.

    Something To Think About

I have a message to share with prospective authors. If you go into writing a story---be it as a living, or just for fun---don't automatically assume that what you're doing is wholly original.

    Tired, Running On Empty

That pretty much summarizes my mental state of the past few days. Constantly tired (half due to not getting enough sleep and half due to my walking regimen), and I can't really think of things I want to write for the story. You know you're having trouble finding things to talk about when your brain fishes for tuna, but ends up with guppies instead.

    So INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED Right Now

I copied the latest chapter of M.L.G. to my flash drive as usual. I took it home with the intent to post it today. I double-click the file.

Bugs Bunny once said in the cartoon Rabbit Every Monday:

"I don't ask questions. I just have fun!"

So, why are people taking things so seriously? Like the majority of cartoons, for instance? Last I checked, they're intended to entertain people, to make people laugh. Anything can happen, and usually does. You're not supposed to dwell on stuff that doesn't make sense; you're supposed to go with the flow, wash ashore upstream, and move on. Visual gags, wordplay, jokes that are only funny in certain circumstances, it doesn't matter.

So what if you don't get what's going on? So what if there's something wrong in what you're watching? No. The problem isn't in what we're watching. The problem is with us. We look at something and think: "This isn't possible in real life. Therefore I don't like it, and I will not use it in my story." We rant and rave about plot holes, pointless exposition, elements of storytelling and such, but ultimately, none of that matters: we're so far removed from Looney Tunes' glory days that we've become critics and little else, and we're under the false impression that we can remodel property that was never deeded to us.

I will not judge anyone as to how to write their stories. That's none of my business, and who knows? There's a decent chance that I've read and liked some of your stuff; been going here for at least a year, after all. As for me, I will not complain any further about things beyond my control; it's 11:22p.m. CST as of this writing, and I've talked for long enough.

I have a minor project that I need to get out of the way by October, and then I'm going to test the waters by writing my first MLP fanfic; taking into account my usual procrastination and lack of energy, it probably won't be out until sometime in December, and it's going to be rather short, too. It's not going to make sense, not one bit, but then again it's not in my nature to make sense. At least, not completely. >^_^<
