I saw Oculus a few hours ago.
Basically Oculus is a movie about two siblings that survived an attack
by a mind manipulating mirror. Instead of trying to live normal lives, they decide to mess with the mirror again.
I won't spoil the movie.
What I liked was seeing a master mind manipulator at work.
Empress Razorhoof from the Gleaner Chronicles is an Enchanter, a magic user that can control minds.
It's more subtle than commanding someone to eat a light bulb.
It's more like she will give someone an apple but it's really a lightbulb.
That person will bite and chew like they're eating an apple until the pain is too much for
Razorhoof to block or she gets bored. Then the poor victim will try to pull shards of glass from their mouths.
The movie showed me that I'm on the right track as far as showing the power of an Enchanter.
It also shows how hard it is to fight a being who can change your view of reality.
There's an example of Razorhoof's mind magic in the upcoming second Gleaner story. I probably will get halfway and then look for an editor. I want to start catching issues before I finish the story.
