    Taking fanfic commissions on VGen!

If you've had a fanfic idea you've wanted to see become real but weren't sure it ever would be, why not throw it my way and see what happens? I'll write most kinds of fics, SFW, NSFW, pony, human, Equestria Girls, you name it! Though I really, REALLY love the Equestria Girls universe so I'll likely be more bias towards those fics. I also prefer writing SFW, so NSFW fics might take longer to be

So, Silent Ponyville 4 may as well be cancelled

Silent Ponyville 4 is a strange enigma, in the sense that, I have the entire story planned out in my head, and even have the notes of what I want to have happen, but I haven't touched the story in such a long time. And every time I sit down to try and work on it, my brain fries, I can't get the words out, and I end up moving on to work on something else. And with FiM having officially ended, and

Disgaea: Disharmony of Friendship - The Story that Never Was

So once upon a time, over on the ye-olde land of Deviant Art, around the same time I was writing Silent Ponyville originally, I was writing a story called Disgaea: Disharmony of Friendship! It was a Disgaea crossover, and I even made a whole flash intro for it and only ever finished Chapter 1 of the fic.

    A public service announcement!

Are you tired of the same old Anon-a-Miss fics that just deal with all the exact same tropes in the exact same way? Tired of them be constantly dreary and depressing, dealing with dark topics that don't befit the original topic? Tired of the Mane 5 being irredeemable monsters for thinking their bully has gone back to being a bully?

Criticism isn't a bad thing · 8:59pm Aug 1st, 2016

If there's ever something you think is wrong with my stories, please feel free to tell me. I can't tell if something I wrote is bad because of it's content, characters, story, or anything if all I get is a dislike or silence. I can't improve as a writer that way.

That doesn't mean write 'This sucks' or something equally negative and short and leave it at that though. Obviously that's not constructive and I have no idea how to take that. But I put a lot of hard work into everything I write and everything I publish is something I came to love enough to release for everyone to see. And nothing hurts my creativity more than people hating something I put love into making and never knowing why.

Please, constructively criticize my work if you have something to say. I will always perform better with praise, but if something is wrong I need to be told so.

And I can vouch for the fact that you take constructive criticism well, which is kind of refreshing ^.^

I know of others on the internet who are so sensitive that they specifically ask for no criticism because "Oh, I'm so hard on myself there isn't anything you can point out that I didn't already know was wrong". Umm, bullshit--you can always benefit from a second pair of eyes (or ears), and as long as you don't allow that, your craft is never going to be as good as it could have been.

kul

If theres anything you need to work on is the grammar. Sometimes you type things twice, or forget to remove edited parts, or at least, thats what I've been seeing in our recent stories. I cant help that much since english is not my native language and thus i dont have that keen sense about these stuff, so maybe for now the best man to do this is yourself? Just take a breather for couple hours after you finished writing something, and check it again. Thanks for listeninh!

Yeah, grammar is definitely something I'm constantly working on. Something I've done is get into the habit of reading my story out loud to myself while I'm editing to get a better grasp of how a sentence should sound and fixing it as such. It's not a perfect system, and a lot of repeated words can slip through, and I can still find small error here and there. I've gotten a lot better though, my old stories used to be a lot worse. I have personal issues with finding someone else to check my grammar for me, and so far I've found 1 person who does it EXACTLY the way I want it to, but they're often too busy to help even if I pay them to check my grammar for me. So hopefully I can keep getting better at it as time goes on. Or find someone else who also meets my personal grammar checking requirements.

Oh, really? I´m gonna go in deeper explaination another time but my biggest issue in"Motherly Scootaloo"is Starlight is pointlessly evil in it.

Second. I haven´t read your Fate/Equestria Girls, but I saw fanart on MS Tumblr either way, my biggest issue is that STARLIGHT HAS NO REASON TO BE EVIL OR HAVE THE STAFF OF SAMNESS!!! CUTIE MARKS HAVE NO MEANING IN THE HUMAN! WORLD!!!

4226254

No reason to be evil other than she is actually a Sociopath who has difficulty understanding the emotional needs of others and only focuses on how things effect herself. She was also a villain for all of Season 5 and I prefer her as a villain. So rather than reform her, I kept her as a sociopathic villain who is out for her own goals.

Just because she reforms in the show doesn't mean I have to have her be reformed in everything I write. She was a villain for a LONG time. It'd be like saying I couldn't write Tirek as a villain because in Season 7 they reform him too.

4226692
Other than a Sociopat- WHAT?!? Do I have to go throue Toon´s Art of Reformation Video again?! What You said made no sense.

Put please, tell me in great detail why you want Starlight to still be a villan and not a great student to Twilight, who's newest appearance made her even more likable.

4227338

in great detail why you want Starlight to still be a villan

I seriously just can't have her being my favorite villain be the reason? I need some sort of, long drawn out complex reason to justify why her being a reformed good guy and Twilight's student is stupid and I would much rather see her battling Twilight more? I can't just think it's fun to write a quick witted, smarmy, cocky villain that knows what's she's doing, is better than Twilight at it, and that she was the perfect role for the job?

That's not enough?

She IS a villain. She may be reformed now, but she is ON the villain list. If I want her to be a villain, I can HAVE her be a villain.

But, fine. I'll humor you for a moment. I'll explain something that you don't seem to understand me saying that Starlight is a sociopath. (Also I had no idea who Toon was or what the 'Art of Reformation' video was so I googled it and browsed it quickly and it does nothing for the conversation so I have no idea why you brought it up).

To quote someone who probably is better at putting things into words than me:

I think I finally get the difference between Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer.

For a while I figured they were both basically "Evil unicorns who paralleled Twilight and showed what might've happened to her without Friendship, and now they're learning" with only pretty superficial differences in their characterization, but this latest episode clarified what's unique about Glimmer and the different arc she's on.

Glimmer's a sociopath.

Sunset Shimmer went down a bad road, but as she later told human Twilight during their fight, all the power she was after was a way to fill a sense of loneliness. What she really wanted was friendship and acceptance from the outset, and her turn as a Mean Girl was a negative reaction to not feeling that from Celestia or others. That's why she broke down, why Twilight as able to help her, and why she was eventually able to be accepted - the good Shimmer was pretty much always there under a tough front.

With Glimmer, there's none of that. Glimmer's core is more amoral. The big incident that set her off was someone being taken from her, but the way she talks about it and parses it was how unfair it was for her that she not get what she wants. Her solution was if Cutie Marks had wronged her, they needed to go, and if anyone got in her way they needed to go too. When Twilight foiled her, she became her new obsession, all filtered through an amoral worldview that sees social interactions as a zero-sum set of how things relate to her personally.

The new episode reinforced and clarified this. Even with all of Twilight's teaching so far, Glimmer only wants to game the Friendship Lessons so she can maximize her success. She's not actually absorbing what it means to be a friend, and even that last laugh line was a hint that she just wants to relax to finish the lesson, she's not actually relaxing. Twilight is misreading her issues as being like hers, when they actually run deeper.

Starlight doesn't actually care about friendship, she doesn't care about other people's feelings, and she doesn't care what happens to others. She cares about what happens to herself, who is important to her, and how that all effects her. And do you know what we call people who have this vast disconnect with empathy?

Sociopaths.

This is what she is. When she lost Starburst, she tried to change the world to fit her. When she lost the ability to do that, she became Twilight's student to help herself. When she was told to do something for others, she literally forced them into mind control spells that would make them do her bidding perfectly because she was FAR MORE COMFORTABLE MAKING THEM BEND TO HER WILL THAN SIMPLY LISTENING TO THEM AND TRYING TO DO WHAT THEY SUGGESTED.

Then, on top of all that, Starlight is just not interesting as a friend. The ONLY episode that had any weight or interest involving Starlight beyond her role as a villain was becoming friends with Trixie. Beyond that, Starlight could be replaced with damn near any other unicorn in the show and it would get a pretty similar storyline going, and would probably have more personality to boot. The Starlight I know and love is an ammoral sociopath who uses her words and powers to get what she wants and makes it seem like that is what's best for everyone in the end.

If this is a character that's to be 'reformed', it's to be reformed because she wants to be reformed. It's a character that can't just become a friend for friendships sake without it being something she thinks benefits her in the end. That is why she is a villain in Motherly Scootaloo, because she's better off that way. Because she deserves better than the way the show treated their BEST villain in 6 seasons and 3 movies. Because Starlight was so much more than just a unicorn needing to be redeemed, and that there are layers to her character that they literally stripped away because they wanted a Sunset Shimmer proxy.

Starlight Glimmer is, and always will be, a villain in any and all stories I write with her in it. Because that's what she should be. Because that's what I WANT her to be. Because I LIKE her that way. And if you don't LIKE me making the show's best villain remain a villain, then I'm afraid you're just not going to like my work.

And that's okay. It's okay to not like my stories and to not like what I write. And you can ask for explanations and I can do my best to give them. But if after all this you don't understand, then there won't be a way for me to make you see things my way or for me to change your mind. And if you like Starlight as a good guy and a friend, then more power to you. I do not, and we can just agree to disagree.

Well, I can like and respect others opinions, like exempel: Johnny Test. I like this show and the character, but I understand why people hate him with a burning passion, to them, he is a smug jerk, and I can accept that because I can see that´s true.

When I don´t like and respect other opinions, is when their opinions can contradict has hell! Like that comment you showed me, it gets contradicted by the episode as Starlight says LOUD AND CLEAR BEFORE THE ENDING that she is afraid to be a disappointment to anyone she want to be friends with them, she just
dosen´t want to be a failure. This is why I don´t like people who hates when something good happens then turns to what they think is shit and don´t do ANY RESERCH AT ALL JUST TO PROVE THEIR POINTS!(Toon started it). And all points gets turned to shreds in this video alone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkwSvRoxk8M

Oh and about"They wanted a Sunset Shimmer". Jim Miller confirmed on his tumblr that´s not the case, it was an idea that Hasbro approved(because it would make money obviously)
http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Starlight_Glimmer

However, let me be somewhat fair and think this throe: If we follow your canon somewhat, that Starlight ran away from Twilight in the end of Season 5. What should she do then? and we will NOT TALK ABOUT THE TUMBLR AMULET. If we see this logically, Starlight has noting left, her hopes of a timeline where she has her cult can´t work because it will destroy Equestria. There dosen´t exist anymore canon evil artifacts, I´m pretty sure Tia sended the Alicorn Amulet to the sun for it to burn. Starlight will just be all alone with no plan, and we can´t have trying to killing Twilight, this is a kids show after all. If she just ran away, she can´t do anything.
She´ll just be a lonely bum wandering around Equestrian, wanting to find purpose or something.

I Hope you get what I´m saying. No hard felling, right?

4227495

What should she do then?

...Twilight beat her. So now her goal is to beat Twilight.

That's all there is. That's all she needs. She started a cult because cutie marks took something away from her. She fought Twilight because she took that cult away from her. She would have won the time travel battle if it hadn't been for destroying the world in the process, and Starlight doesn't want to destroy the world, she wants to destroy Twilight and anyone else that gets in her way.

She doesn't need to start another cult, that's not her goal. The cult was never about spreading equality (as everyone mistakenly assumes, Starlight is NOT a communist despite everyone making the jokes that she is), the cult was about having power and control. That's what Starlight is, a manipulator. Even in the newest episode she was a manipulator. Sure, she can SAY she was sorry and she didn't want to disappoint people, but that REALLY DOES only further the 'she's a sociopath' connection. She didn't care about disappointing Twilight's friends, she cared about not living up to Twilight's expectations. Because if she didn't, Twilight might not care about her anymore. And if Twilight doesn't care about her anymore, she loses her current obsession. And Starlight HATES losing her current obsession. Be it about power, control, being a leader, or learning magic. Whatever it is, she has to be in control.

Also, even if the writers say she isn't a Sunset proxy, she literally is. They may not have intended to write her that way, but she is literally Sunset-Lite because they couldn't make a better character.

we can´t have trying to killing Twilight

I CAN have her kill Twilight though. The show may not be able to, but I sure as hell can have Starlight try to straight up murder Twilight in Motherly. Hell, she almost succeeded if Discord hadn't stepped in the way. So I can tell the villain story for Starlight that I want to tell in Motherly, because I don't have the restrictions the show does.

I Hope you get what I´m saying. No hard felling, right?

I don't have hard feelings no, but I also don't get what you're saying. You're literally arguing with me to make Starlight a good guy because you don't agree that I like her better as a villain and think she has a lot more potential as one. That in my story she has plenty of things to do as a villain and that her reforming was a big mistake in my book.

I don't know what more I can even say on the subject at this point. This is what I like about Starlight, her being a villain. I don't really care for her being a friend. I don't mind it, but I much much MUCH prefer evil, manipulative, cocky Starlight to passive, uncertain of herself, and just sort of there good guy Starlight.

I feel you on this. Its hard to write when your constantly second guessing yourself, wondering if people actually like the work you've made.
