This Just Bugs Me... (Warning: Philosophy Ahead!) · 5:49am Jul 18th, 2016
I know a lot of people think that the Unicorn tribe is way too overpowered, with a prime example being Pumpkin Cake's escapades in Baby Cakes: where she self-levitates, transports through matter, and has the implied ability to teleport.
I think that all races are Extremely high-powered, but they suffer from one of the same problems we face on Earth: Fictitious Limitations.
Allow me to elucidate:
Children are adventurous by nature, at any age, and used to find thing out by themselves. Then, somewhere along the line, people started to depict things as "Impossible". Saying that some things are not only impossible, but almost unimaginable.
That's one reason I liked the depiction of children in Baby Cakes: no one told Pumpkin she couldn't do those things, and she found out for herself that she could! Nopony told Pound that it's impossible for a foal to harness enough brute strength to break a faucet with a single blow, and he was able to!
Pinkie's reactions are incredibly appropriate: they show surprise more than anything else, with a side of "Aw, crap...".
People are often bound by what they're told is impossible, so they fail to believe what can be done. I've found that believing in yourself is an important part of life, no matter what you're taught is "Impossible". Our only limit is our imaginations: from moving mountains, to flying cars. What are you willing to try?
“Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
Walt Disney.
Truly, words of wisdom.
"Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them."
Mark 11:23
It's amazing the philosophical truths that can subtly shine through this show, so that all can enjoy it. Is it any wonder I love it so much?
Also, notice the phrasing in the Bible verse: God says it will be done. He doesn't say when, or how it will be done. Only that if our faith remains strong, it will be done. Such an important distinction to make.
Until Next Time, God Bless You!
