My Top Ten Favorite Ponies! · 12:48am Jul 10th, 2016
So before I start I just wanted to say that these are just my top ten favorite ponies, and I am deciding them based on the fandom, the show, and the comics. I am also picking this list based on things I like to write, or how these characters have inspired me to bigger and better heights. Each one of these ponies holds a special place in my heart, and although I love everypony, these are the ones that made the cut. I hope you all enjoy a glimpse into the insanity that is the mind of TheCrimsonDM. XD
#10: Twilight Sparkle

So it's no surprise that my top ten would have Twilight Sparkle on it, right? I mean a lot of my stories seem to feature her in some sort of important role. She is the perfect nerd, full of ocd, and in earlier seasons she was very naive and had a hard time accepting things that did not fall into her understanding of the universe. She's gotten a lot better at that over time, and even managed to get her anxiety under control. Still though, I love her, especially season one and two Twilight. She's inspired me to create some of the most badass wizards I've ever written.

This is rather simple, he's a wizard, with a lot less ability to use magic than he wants to have. Remind you of anyone? Well it reminds me of two of my other favorite wizards of all time, Schmendrick the magician, and Rincewind from The Color of Magic. Also he's one of the few really well written and respectable male characters in the show, so he's got my vote for that. When I first saw him, I was scared they would ruin him, but then they made him into what is easily one of my favorite ponies of all time, if not one of my favorite characters of all time. Also, just look at that beard!

Pinkie Pie, Pinkie Pie, Pinkie Pie. I just can't enough of the adorable and heart breaking pony. She has such potential for both comedy and heart ache that it drives me insane and makes my heart explode. This image perfectly captures the exact reasons that I am in love with her. Now only if we could get another sad episode of mlp all about this pink pony, one that ends with us all getting to understand her a little bit more, then life would be perfect.

When I first read Fallout Equestria I had never experienced a story like it before, nor had I experienced a character that was so deep and carefully crafted as Littlepip. She quickly made my list of favorite heroines because of the both the struggles she faced externally and internally. In all honesty I could not, not put her on this list somewhere because of how much her story moved me and how greatly I changed after reading it. Littlepip, best damn toaster repair pony in the wasteland.

Okay, so what do I need to say here? Rarity has some of the strongest character growth in the series, she is/was a perfect candidate for making dragon-ponies a reality, and she is sexy AF. I mean seriously, this is Rarity, she sings, she makes beautiful dresses, she raises her sister, and she has a business that seams to be growing smoothly. Also one of my favorite alternate characters is a different version of her. Anyone remember Little Miss Rarity?
#5: Celestia

Celestia, the princess-god of the sun and mentor to Twilight Sparkle herself. Her kindness is like a warm blanket on a cold night, and her wraith is like the hottest inferno. This princess led Equestria by herself all alone for a thousand years, and when her 'evil' sister came back to end her, she didn't fight. Instead she orchestrated a plan to rescue her sister and then forgave her for her crimes. yes she is super irresponsible at times and makes me wonder how Equestria hasn't fallen to ruin yet, but at other times she is the hero that the world needs.

This was a hard one to pick from, it was either Luna or Celestia. In the end I went with Luna for one single reason. The comics. That's right, in the comics she is portrayed as a youthful playful spirit, and although sometimes she is deadly serious or cold, she is usually much more in line with her Gamer Luna persona, and I love that. She also embodies the very idea of forgiveness and hope. Hope that no mater how dark the path you tread, there is a light at the end. Moonlight that is because Luna is all about that stuff.

Now we're coming up to the major leagues, and the reason why I started this list in the first place. The episode with the pie family totally blew me away, the portrayal of both Marble and Limestone were so spot on for how I viewed the family in the first place that I nearly lost my mind. Sure I could (and do) get rid of the weird thing between Big Mac and her, but other than that I am totally in love with her. I can't really blame her for being weird around Big Mac though, he does seem to get all the ladies. My favorite aspect of Marble does have to be how she embodies the shyness of Fluttershy but takes it to the extreme, a little reminder of how sweet Fluttershy was back in episode one. Also she never speaks a word throughout the entire episode, so she gets my Silent Bob love as well. All in all, much love goes out to Marble.

Okay everyone, this might accidentally spoil who number one is for you but come on. Maud Pie. The Maud Pie. She is just too awesome not to love. She's like several of my favorite anime characters, turned into a rock loving pony. Her strength is absurd, her emotions are a mystery as well as her thoughts, and her mama bear nature when it comes to Pinkie is just wonderful. I would love to be this mare's friend, and going on rock hunts together would be really cool. Too bad ponies aren't real... well not the magical talking kind anyway.

If Starburst and Maud didn't tell you who it would be, if my reasons for loving Pinkie Pie and Luna didn't speak it, then you may never have guessed that Trixie was my favorite pony. Unless you have read my stories, in which a lot of them feature the best unicorn in existence as the lead. So why Trixie you ask? To me she represents the ability to transform yourself from nothing, into something great. The power to make up for whatever past sins or mistakes you've made. The determination to defy the world and even when your at your lowest point to pick yourself up and start again. My love for this character is a very personal one, and that probably just goes to tell people that I am insane, but it's there.
Really though, Trixie is my favorite character to write about. My favorite to see in comics, tv shows, and even fanfiction, and my favorite in terms of art. She has equal potential for absolute good as she does for absolute evil. She's misunderstood and unloved, in a world where the value of friendship is one of the highest regarded traits someone could have. She even went through a rough patch where the one thing that anypony should be able to rely upon was pretty much taken away from her, her own destiny, her own cutie mark was made worthless while she worked on the rock farm, and this is in a world where your cutie mark is pretty much your life. The fact that she went from fledgling magician, to evil, to finally getting and almost losing her first friend makes her one of the most powerful characters the show has to offer. If you follow the comics she even had a redemption arc.
I could go on and on about why Trixie is my favorite character, but I won't bore you with all of that. Instead I will simply say this; at the end of the day we all have our own favorites. Characters that mean a lot to us because we can relate to them, because we see something that other people just don't. These characters involve themselves in our lives and change us, for better or worse. That's the power of writing, the power of a story. And I love it!
