Back from trip, updates, and sneak peek · 6:27pm Jul 2nd, 2016
So, there are a few things I'd like to say, which will be possibly long, so please follow me after the break.
So, as the title states, I'm back from my vacation. My visit to the homeland was pretty good, though oddly filled with rain and thunderstorms, which still doesn't sound right for this time of year. Had some time to be away from the world, digitally I suppose, and found it to be quite relaxing, even though I didn't really have anything to do and spent most of my time at home. Got to see my dad's hometown change yet not really change after not visiting in almost a decade and spent some time with some of my family out there. All and all, I liked it, but I have no clue when I'd be going back.
So, time for updates I suppose. I was able to think of some elements for a few future stories and even story boarded and outlined two stories that I want to do for season two of my Greyscale stories. Also typed up a few words and ideas before I left to begin with and I'm still working on the season one finale of the stories. So, please wait a bit for my sorry slow butt to get back into gear.
Now, I feel like I should share something with you lot. I wrote a fic. Not typed, wrote; good old paper and pen. I see said fic taking place sometime during the events of season two, yet I feel like I should give you lot a small glimpse of what's to come. Please enjoy:
La Sombra de Abuela
I checked my calendar to make sure today was the right day. The weather outside felt about right, but I still wanted to make sure. The calendar showed March 18; today was the day.
I put my usual traveling gear into my saddlebags: a sleeping bag, lawn blanket, thermos of hot chocolate, a few sandwiches, and three bottles of water. As I doubled checked everything, the urge to do a quick triple check crept up on me. I’ve been spending too much time with Twilight.
I left my house, locking it behind me, and used the usual route along the edge of town that I normally use for these trips. Outside from a few waving hellos as I passed by and a few colts running around doing colt things, two barely missing me as they ran from their friends, playfully screaming at the top of their lungs, it was a pretty uneventful walk. As I reached the last of the houses, I took a small, worn down path that most would have missed if they weren’t looking.
After a few minutes of peaceful wilderness walking, I reached my destination: a hill with a big, old looking oak tree (the shade could easily cover half of the hill).
I gently touched the old bark and listened to the swaying of the leaves and branches. “Buenas tardes, Abuela,” I whispered to it. The tree groaned a little, trying to reply to me but unable to say the words. “Esta bien. No necessitas decir nada. Yo lo se.”
A few rays of light seeped through its mighty limbs, as if warping me in its warm embrace, if only for a few fleeting moments.
I stepped two hooves away from the bark and set down my bags, spreading my gear out along the grass. I got to spreading my lawn blanket when a voice from behind asked, “Greyscale, is that you?”
