Let me tell you all a little story. It's the story of why Crobat is my favorite Pokemon ever.
Back when I was a stupid kid playing that new copy of Pokemon Pearl I just got, I did some really stupid things. Of course, I wasn't completely stupid like some other stories of heard of other people, but I'm talking about over-leveling my Infernape to Lv. 90 by the end of the game, putting Pokemon on my team because they were higher-leveled than my current Pokemon, and not having an appreciation for music.
Alright, that last one isn't so bad, but considering I'm now a huge video game music fanatic you can see why I'd list that.
Anyway, back to the story, I originally had no idea Crobat existed back then. I knew about Zubat and Golbat since Team Galactic REALLY liked using them, but since I hadn't gotten to Cyrus yet, Crobat was but an afterthought at the time. So, because I was an idiot, I put a male Zubat on my team because why the fuck not? I named it Zubatman and it went with me on my adventure for the time being. Then, it evolved into Golbat, which I expected as much.
Of course at the time, I had no fucking clue what stats, STABs or even Super Effective moves were, so imagine my surprise when I found that Golbat was moving faster than my other Pokemon! It was sweeping teams with Wing Attack and Confuse Ray (though I hardly used the latter due to my stupidity in not really caring what status moves did, since most of my plans were "kill anything that moves"), and frankly, I had fallen in love.
Then, while I was traversing Mt. Coronet, all of a sudden my Golbat began to evolve! Shocked by this outcome, I allowed the evolution to happen and, low and behold, Crobat appeared! Now it was faster and far more brutal of a Pokemon. I managed to defeat many grunts and trainers with this beauty of a Pokemon! Needless to say, it was a beautiful sight. Hell, it was even one of the very FEW Pokemon that stayed with me on my journey with me thinking a Pokemon's level meant how strong they were (thank god Luvdisc wasn't pre-national, or I probably would have killed myself).
Obviously I was too stupid to beat Cynthia quite just yet, but I got there!
As for the name "Crotalik" that I use in just about every single version of Pokemon I play, this stems from Pokemon White, of all games. Yes, my favorite Pokemon game of all time! Who would've thunk, eh? After beating Tennis-Dennis-Ghetsis, I was able to explore the other side of Unova starting from White Forest. Stepping onto the first route, what was literally, actually, seriously the first Pokemon I found?
Crobat, of all things!
It was female, but I caught it anyway for nostalgic purposes. Feeling bored and not really wanting to name it something, I named it "Crotalik" and went along my way. While I would never actually use the damn thing, I kept it safely in my storage and cared for it forever.
This next part is a little fuzzy I'll admit, but for some reason I just started calling all of my Crobat "Crotalik". Sometimes with two L's and sometimes with one, the name basically stayed the same. Perhaps it was my remembrance of my Crobat in White or maybe the one in Pearl. Either way, Crotalik was forever its name.
Of course, I began appreciating Crobat a TON more when I finally discovered more about the Pokemon game mechanics. A high speed stat and the most rounded other stats of all time make Crobat able to quickly deal damage and take a few punches to the face. It also has a surprisingly large move pool, including some great attacks like X-Scissor, Zen-Headbutt and Steel Wing, and some tricky status moves like Confuse Ray, Mean Look, Haze and Roost. It's honestly a really good Pokemon, and it was basically a giant "Fuck You" from GameFreak to those who thought Zubat and Golbat were annoying. Well, they still are technically annoying, but not nearly as much now that we know Crobat stems from them!
Thank god for that!

A lot of Pokemon from PMD are a lot stronger than they are in the actual main games. Many children who grew up with Pokemon in the Mystery Dungeon series only to see their favorite Pokemon are statistically weak in the main series is heartbreaking to say the least.
But hey; if you like Skitty, more power to you!

I have to agree with you about Crobat. One of my favorite tactics with crobat is aCrobatics and a flying gem.

Acrobatics, Poison Fang, Confuse Ray (plus extra move), and Sitrus berry for me. The extra move will stall opponents while they whittle down Crobat's HP. Then, Sitrus berry it up, use Acrobatics, go first and SWEEP!!!

Steel Wing would be a good extra move.
My favorite was, is, and will always be my first. Typhlosion is an awesome fire bear. Apparently over-leveling your starter and ignoring the rest is a common occurrence. Especially when you're steamrolling everyone but your rival.
